Splatoon 2 Discussion: It is important to minimise deaths

Hi Saturn and Spacewitchmars, you make some good points. 22 kills is a major contribution to clearing the field. In some contexts 22 kills and 13 deaths indicates a really great performance. Many of us play a certain way, whether its aggressively trading or inking turf, we aim to create...

Shifty Station - New Splatfest Map! Thoughts?

It's definitely interesting. I like that you can hold the middle really aggressively from that box in the centre, especially with a squelcher, but you have to keep in mind the rhythm of the platforms in case of a flank. It's quite tidal. I can't handle map view, the way the death Xs don't move...

Splatoon 2 Discussion: It is important to minimise deaths

When I first started playing Splatoon 1 I was new to online shooters. I consulted a range of guides, and most of them began with one key statement: Don't die. I suspect a lot of players underestimate how important this is, especially players who are adept at wracking up multiple kills ending in...

I always get terrible teams... Am I in hell?

One of the biggest things that helped me in turf war was running the inkbrush in turf wars. It's no good at head-to-head, so forces you the learn the kind of stealth tactics that allow you to survive in higher ranks. It also covers turf like crazy. Stick within sight of a couple of your...

I always get terrible teams... Am I in hell?

These guys are a problem, but the higher up you get, the rarer they get, to the point where in S I very, very, very rarely see these guys, and a much bigger problem by far are the kamikaze players who are overextending and constantly trading, especially at the initial engagement of the match.

I always get terrible teams... Am I in hell?

There are lots of questions I always have. I've seen players who die 10+ times per match, with high kills, claim their teammates are at fault, for example, but every time they died they left their teammates without cover. Number one rule is: Don't die. Retreat. Walking backwards shooting from...

2nd EU Splatfest: Eating vs Sleeping

Eating teams were, for the most part, really appalling. It took a long, long time to find other good players on the Eating side, and when I did those teams disbanded quickly due to disconnects. I think the disconnects had something to do with the fact that NZ and AUS are counted among the Europe...

Do you guys punish people who super jump?

Oh, absolutely, and I do try my best to secure the area for people when that's doable, but often people jump to me while I'm trying to escape being pinned down, or when I'm being hounded. If I'm on the retreat, it becomes rather difficult, and often seals your fate if you don't have plenty of...

Do you guys punish people who super jump?

I just had some idiot super jump to me right beside the enemy base on port mackerel, as I was rounding corner to go down their corridor. Needless to say my teammate immediately died. Wow.

Do you guys punish people who super jump?

A lot of people don't think about where they are jumping to. If they're jumping on the front lines without stealth jump, they're asking to die. Sometimes I will jump to a sniper on a safe perch who looks to be safe for a 10+ seconds. Mostly I just swim to the point I want to be, and avoid super...

How many of us have made it in to A+ Rank in Splatzones?

I haven't broken past B+, and in the past couple of days have fallen to C+, consistently getting K/D mvp, but not winning matches. I just went 19/3 and still lost. Though at this point, I'm in bloody C ranks, so there's nothing to boast about. I know I'll get back up the ranks. I'm just...

How many of us have made it in to A+ Rank in Splatzones?

I think part of my problem is I use a squelcher for the range. It means I offer great support, but if my front of the line sucks, I have to rush in from far off and try to take the tower and then hold it with a long-range weapon. So I'm one step behind close rangers like Tentateks. I'll give it...

How many of us have made it in to A+ Rank in Splatzones?

It feels like I'm on an endless, days and days long string, of going c. double-digits to four or so, while my whole team goes 0/11. I'm trying to be very Zen about it, but there's a point at which this feels like wasting time for an impossible reward. Tips? I'm so lost.
