It has been some time since the 1.4 update, enough to get a more stable reading of where things are right now with weapons used among the top 100 League teams over the past week. The data is courtesy of http://splatoon2db.info/

The meta of Splatoon 2 basically boils down to...
1) the Splattershot
2) weapons that can compete with or counter the Splattershot and other close-ranged weapons in some way
3) everything else.
I love all the 3D Mario games, so pre-ordering this one was a no-brainer. Unfortunately, I will probably be too busy to spend much time with it this weekend.
I prefer unscoped with the Splat Charger. Holding a charge is just too fun to give up for a scope. That being said, I do prefer the scoped version of the E-liter, mostly because I only use that weapon when Moray Towers is in rotation and the extra range makes a difference on that map.
I'm not so sure about that. The Splat Charger is always ahead of Splatterscope when the frequency of weapons that are used among the top 100 League teams on a weekly basis is counted. Last week, the Splat Charger was at #10.
I personally use...
Ink Recovery Up: A single charged shot consumes quiet a bit of ink and I like to get it back as quick as possible. Ink Savor Main is also useful but not quite as helpful since you won't be in the middle of the fray too often.
Special Saver and Special Power Up: Stingray is...
The Tentatek is one of the stronger weapons in the game. The main weapon is the most well-rounded and arguably the best. Its kit is very solid too, although not as good as the vanilla Splattershot kit (by far the best kit in the game). The Carbon is ok. Not the best, but not the worst either...
I wouldn't say Blaster hell. More like Splattershot hell and whatever can compete with it e.g. pre-nerf Tri-Slosher, Sloshing Machine, Baller, Ink Armored N-ZAP. The Rapid and Luna Blaster are strong, but the other Blasters have a similar problem to Chargers: they are slow and get picked apart...
I don't use Blasters much either (so take my opinion with a grain of salt) but my brief experience with the Range Blaster tells me it has the same problems as the regular Blaster. It just can't seem to keep up with the pace of the battle. Other weapons tear it to shreds. Getting directs is...
Charger main here. I like my Chargers, so it may come as a surprise that I think they are rather terrible in Splatoon 2. They are good in the right hands, but so is any weapon. The inherent flaw of Chargers in both Splatoon 1 and Splatoon 2 is they are slow back-line weapons in a game that...
We are back with another weapons summary. A lot has changed with the 1.4 update, so let's take a look at what players who make it to the top 100 League teams are using now. The data is courtesy ofhttp://splatoon2db.info/
1) Splattershot (14.5%)
2) Sloshing Machine (5.4%)
3) Splat Roller...
I like Point Sensors as well, especially with the Squiffer. It's always funny to watch how people react once they are tagged. A lot of times they just stop moving and hide in their ink and I'm like "uh... I can still see you."
I don't think the buffed Goo Tuber will be a Bamboozler killer. Being able to store partial charges will be great for repositioning when interrupted considering how slow charging is, but you still are probably going to want to go for fully charged shots and ambushes. The only differences is the...
