So my general strategy with this weapon is to throw down a Splash Wall, get behind it, and then immediately fire a fully-charged shot. The wall blocks all damage, while allowing me to mow down everything in sight. And if someone tries to get around the Wall, I'll still have enough time to stop...
Come to think of it, I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo released a bunch of weapons and gear based off of their other franchises. They didn't hesitate to use their other characters in Mario Kart 8.
