A couple of days ago I had the strangest match and this seems to happen particullary on the stage mentioned.
So for starters it took an ENTIRE MINUTE to begin the battle and then... poof!
When I noticed what happened I was on a 3 VS 2!!
But it's also on this map that things like this keep happening: spotenuous disconnects for example.

I've heard it said that the abundance of curved surfaces causes this map in particular to be more prone to connection issues, so... yeah. Although I find that I experience issues here much more frequently in TW than in Ranked.

Blackbelly is one of the maps that is prone to framerate issues during things like double bomb rushes and 8 sprinklers and such, but none of that is related to DC's or network problems. If you're experiencing consistent DC's and not being able to play until a minute into a match, the problemlies with you or others' internet, not Blackbelly.

Blackbelly Skatepark is a very small stage. I think it may actually be the smallest stage in the entire game. It is also very closesly packed together. Due to its size, it is a map that is more prone to disconnections. This is especially so when people using Bomb Rush on Blackbelly. A lot of people can disconnect on Blackbelly when a Bomb Rush is activated or when multiple sprinklers are on the map. It's just a little too much for some peoples' connections. I have friends who can't load a game on the map at all due to their connections. It's not broken per say but it's size doesn't allow all connections to play on it. In a way... People with weaker connections will struggle with Blackbelly and Ancho-V Games.

As Cuttleshock said is mostly because of the abundance of curved surfaces and people internets just can't take it.

I used to have terrible lag and DC trouble on Blackbelly, but since I upgraded my internet it hasn't been a problem.

On this map once the entire other team disconnected and I was the only one on my team except like one other person (I can't remember too clearly if it was my friend or not) that was like... invisible and unable to attack me. It was really strange, and I to this day don't know what happened.

I think the problem with that map in terms of network connection is as Airi said, the close quarters. But where it tends to get more problematic than Ancho-V, is Ancho-V has a lot of walled sections while blackbelly is almost entirely open where every player on the map is likely visible at any time. I expect anything in Ancho-V behind the "sniper wall" is behind a clipping brush and the real-time updates in the netcode are not active so there's less than 8 players streaming data at the same time. I.E. when behind a clipping brush they're updating the map data that's streamed separately, but their movement data is not visible to players in the next clipping zone until they re-enter the visible part of that zone. On blackbelly, I doubt that right-side wall hall can be handled as a separate clipping zone because most of it can be visible from the tower and the opposing left side ramp, so all 8 players are in the same clip zone and thus streaming their movement data.

Of course I would point out that streaming the ink data separately is probably not a good thing as it's how we end up with squids swimming in enemy ink and bombs that create ink pools before they detonate.
