Right so I want to try this! I'm not sure how far we'll get with this but let's make a goofy CAH-style deck with some in-jokes/homages to both splatoon and the community we've built here, and then one day (maybe more than one day) if the deck gets big enough, we'll schedule some games. I'll probably use Massive Decks since it's the only one I have experience with but I'm open to other platform suggestions.

You have two ways to suggest card ideas: 1) publicly, by replying to this thread, or 2) anonymously, by using this google form. (Just be sure to keep your cards generally family friendly; CAH itself may be a very adult-oriented game but this will... not be that, lol)

Response cards are easy enough to fill with like.... every existing character and item and weapon/etc in the game, but we can always use more clever, funny, and/or community-specific ideas for those. Call cards are little more difficult, so the more of those we can come up with, the better. If we don't have enough we can fill it out with fairly generic ones from mainstream decks since the white cards will still keep it on-theme, but hopefully we can come up with enough to not need to do that.

For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about... this is a silly game where everyone is dealt a number of response (white) cards, and then a random call (black) card is drawn. One player is picked to be the judge and then everyone else plays whatever response card they think fills in the call card's blank(s) in the best/funniest/most-appealing-to-the-judge way. The judge picks the response card they like best, and that player gets a point. Everyone takes turns being the judge and the game can go on until you get tired of it or run out of cards. It's more about making each other laugh than it is about winning, hah.

Anyway we'll see how this goes!

this doubles as my reminder to myself to try and make some of those. if they go well/badly enough we might end up with a “sevenleaf’s squid cookies.” white card

Y'all these are FANTASTIC. You all are hilarious. I did have to modify some of them to work (either grammatically or so they would fit on the card) and some I can't figure out how to make work (the blanks will be filled in with with either a noun or a gerund* so test and make sure that filling in the blank with either of those would make some grammatical sense.)

We're currently sitting at 82 call cards and 318 response cards, which is really good. For reference, the CAH base set has 100 and 500 respectively, which feels doable at this rate. Right now I am a little worried since such a large portion of the response cards are just weapon names that I wonder if it will seem limiting/repetitive but if we can come up with enough response cards it should at least dilute those out a little. I'll probably grab some random people to playtest it at some point and we'll see how it feels and what needs to be adjusted. But either way it's feeling like this might be doable!

*I only just learned today what a "gerund" is so for those of you who are also about to learn today: it's a word/phrase that is derived from a verb but functions as a noun. So while "yelling" is the present tense of a verb (IE 'can you stop yelling?'), if you use it in a sentence as a noun (IE 'can you stop your yelling?') it's a gerund.
