So I just recently 4 starred big swig express not on purpose, but while looking at the 4 stars on swig I noticed something. I always call my self a roller player, a roller main, yet aside from just recently I only really got 2 rollers at 4 stars or higher The two being Splat and Krak-on. That is when I got a genius Possibly stupid Idea. What if I were to 4 star every single roller in the game.
To make it more interesting every single time I four star a roller I will write (type) down my thoughts about the weapon here in this thread. It seems fun and is a good learning experience about the weapon class as a whole.

To make it a bit neater my thoughts will be organized like this

Kit synergy
Strengths
Weaknesses
Final thoughts

To kick off this long, LONG thread we start off with none other than the king (or queen) of the rollers

SPLAT ROLLER

Kit synergy: I don't think I need to tell you this but in case I do this kit is the perfect kit for the weapon, Curling bomb enables the weapon in so many different ways. It basically makes the entire enemy team paranoid of every single curling bomb you will ever toss, and if they ignore any of your curlings you take advantage of it and kill them, That is not to discredit bubble though in fact bubble is what ties the main and sub into this neat package the kit synergy is just incredible

Strengths: I already talked about how great the kit is for this weapon, now for the strengths and there is one big strength this weapon has which is how it can Single handedly change the entire way the enemy team plays the game, While there are some sub weapons that can shut down a roller player (Which we will get to soon). If the enemy team doesn't have those options they are going to struggle against a good roller. Another big strength if left unchecked is how roller can easily team wipe the enemies, yes other weapons can do it too, but none are as consistent as splat roller.

Weaknesses: Every weapon has their weaknesses and splat roller is no exception, Some more notable ones includes. Team composition. Roller can't paint for crap, so it desperately needs a good painting weapon on its team to properly do it job. another thing that can mess a roller player up is location tools mostly auto and sensor. Trust me when I say the amount of time my game plans get stopped is when someone on the enemy team keeps spamming point sensor and just having a permanent target on my back

Final thoughts: I don't know how to end it except I love this weapon. I been playing since Splatoon 1 and this weapon always stuck by me. So yea splat roller will always have a place in my heart and weapon pool no matter what!

KRAK-ON ROLLER

Kit synergy: So vanilla roller already has a top tier kit which means that krak-on has some massive shoes to fill, did it fill it? eh... no kind of not really. One of the first thing you notice when playing this weapon is just how reliant splat roller is on it sub. having a deployable really takes roller out of play a lot. But don't worry it has kraken which is actually pretty good.

Strengths: The weapon has less strengths than it splat counterpart but it still has some. The biggest one being it completely different play style. Where it focus on charging up a kraken to get into the enemy base and place some sneaky beakons. If the beakons aren't destroyed you will have an absolute field day jumping back behind the enemy team and getting some picks. Kraken is also just a good special an invincible aggro special that can one shot.

Weaknesses: All the things I said about the main and special being good together, kind of don't matter when the weapon can't charge it special at all. Yes splat also has this problem, but splat is not reliant on the special to do its job. Krak-on is and without a bomb you are not getting much krakens unless you run special charge up which takes away gear slots you usually use for other abilities for roller. Also no leathal bomb or poking tool, I know I talk about it a lot but it really does mess the weapon up.

Final thoughts: Krak-on roller is the fun casual weapon I play in open sometimes, but it easy to see why this is not a competitive weapon especially when the weapon already has another kit which is just perfect for it. I still have some love for this weapon as it the weapon that made me decide to become a roller main all the way back in splat 1 when Kraken was insanely OP. But now its not the same still like the weapon though.

BIG SWIG ROLLER EXPRESS

Kit synergy: It has angle shooter... Well that is not a promising start, as we all know angle shooter is just bad in every way possible. But no worry the special can save it just like how zip saved slosher deco, what's the special anyway? The special is ink storm... ok it kind of works but its also not really helping swig since every other storm weapon utilize storm better and i'm not kidding. Alright I'm being a little negative here you can see the vision here (Unlike the other swig) it just that all the parts are kind of weak aside from inkstorm.

Strengths: It can paint a lot, and it can spam a lot of storm. Good lord I'm streching for some strengths, alright it also does a lot of object damage to crab and rain maker shield. it cheese zones, uh... the weapon name is funny to say.

Weaknesses: Alright I'm calling it now both of the big swigs weakness section is going to be the largest. This weapon just doesn't really have much going for it except a lot of paint. It the only roller that can't one shot with a horizontal, it vertical swing hitbox is incredibly small, you will have an easier time hitting a moving dart board blindfolded, than a moving target with vertical. for this weapon specifcally I can kind of understand what angle shooter is meant to do. It's suppose to be a combo tool for swig it just that hitting the combo is difficult and at that point you might as well just do another horizontal flick than waste 40% of your ink tank and hope for a lucky shot.

Final thoughts: This weapon is fun to play basically just throwing up a ton of paint all over the map. But really that the only thing it can do paint a lot and at that point you might as well play any other painting weapon. I want this weapon to be good as a roller focus on painting and supporting the team is fun. But the main is just kind of weak right now, and the kit it has is also not helping. Like what would you rather have on your team considering equal skill level (Whether solo queue or team play) a big swig that has storm and a marker, or a neo splash with a bomb and tri strike. Kind of sad how the weapon turned out but truth be told I do like playing me some swig every once in a while.

ALRIGHT. That is all for the rollers I already have at 4-stars (5 for vsplat) like I say every time I get a roller at 4 star I will proceed to add a comment in the exact same format.

EDIT: Alright so right now I'm in the process of 4 starring vcarbon (Just got it up to three) and looking at it now it seems difficult to try and organize all of my thoughts about vcarbon in this format. So to make it easier on me I will just have each section be a long ramble instead of this neat format. More messier but easier to just get my thoughts out there.

CARBON ROLLER

Alright so my first thought before playing this weapon was something along the lines of me hating it. then I started and it was a little fun at first, then near the end of the 4 star grind I was just begging for it to stop. I know that this is an early call, but I feel like Vanilla carbon might be my least favorite roller for a lot of reasons.
Let start with the main here, carbon roller as a main is pretty good, the flicks are fast, it got great speed, and a pretty generous vertical swing. It has it fair share of weaknesses mostly being its range, but there is also the fact that while it can one shot there is also times where you are a little too far and don't get the kill.
Well that is all good with the kit burst bomb as a combo tool and kill range extender and trizooka that ca-.. Wait, crap my bad I forgot this is vanilla carbon. It has autobomb and zipcaster, where do I start with this kit?
Well autobomb kind of works in my opinion, it can toss in an area to look for sharks, toss it at people out of range, help with objects, and can help paint for special in a way. Auto bomb is not really my problem with this weapon its mostly zip caster.
Now a little disclaimer, I'm not a good zipcaster player by any means so it could just be me being bad, but I really don't think this main/special works all to well. I mean I see the idea here carbon is a short range weapon, so a special to help close the gap would be good. The problem is that carbon needs to be EXTREMELY close to get a kill which means most of the time (In my expereience) I just zip to an enemy and get instantly dropped because I have no range. And unlike other zip weapons that can zip to an annoying spot and poke you with range (Splatana) or use it mobility to its advantage (Tetras) it just zip to an opponet and tickle them to death.
This kit also has the problem of having no options against long range opponents. I mean I usually don't have problems dealing with long range enemies but with this weapon I'm just left scrathing my head thinking "What do I do here".
But I think what truly makes me not like this weapon is no burst bomb. I loss count of the amount of times I complained about not having burst while 4 starring it.

I know that this entry was just me ranting/complaing about vanilla carbon, but it wasn't really all that enjoyable to play. Personally I might not play this weapon much after this. But on the bright side at least the next weapon is carbon roller deco, which I'm looking forward too.

CARBON ROLLER DECO

This weapon is honestly a breath of fresh air after playing vanilla carbon. I had high hopes for this weapon and it absolutely delivered, I already talked about the main in the carbon section, so let skip that and talk about the kit. This kit is just perfect in every way possible, the sub is a burst bomb a kill range extender and combo tool, with the added bonus of extra mobility. Along with the special of trizooka which can help with long range threats. I feel like this is up there with vsplat of having the perfect kit, it's no wonder why the deco variant is much more popular than the vanilla. I can unironically see myself playing this weapon more after I finish 4 starring the rollers. This weapon get my approval

I'm not sure how the rest of the rollers will go, but I hope I can create more positive entries like this.

It is right now 12:00 in the morning where I should be asleep, but instead I'm here to talk about

DYNAMO ROLLER

I honestly have a lot of thoughts about this weapon, so I guess I start with the kit it has sprinkler and tacticooler. The sub while weak allows for a quick option to paint it feet, bodyblock, paint for special, and on top of all of that is cheap, so I found myself using it frequently. The special works wonder for the weapon it allows the weapon to play to crazy speeds a fast moving midrange weapon that can oneshot is scary. Honestly think that this kit is good not carbon deco or v splat good but still good the main though? OH BOY it has some problems mostly with how the hitbox just sometimes doesn't work. I played splat roller for my entire splatoon career and the flick had failed me less times than Dynamo flick during the 4-star. On top of that the vertical flick while it is not as useless as people say it does mess you up a good bit as if you accidentally do a vertical flick you end up being vulnerable for (I think) 60 frames 9/10 you are dead in this situation. Though I got to admit even though the flaws of the weapons are annoying I did find myself easily understanding it I think it because I main the brush version of Dynamo, but that is just a theory A GAME THEORY . But when the main weapon worked it was an absolute monster and dare I say one of the more hype weapons I got a good amounts of clips with this weapon. Let wrap it up here final thoughts about dynamo? if the weapon flicks were more consistent I would honestly say that this is my 2nd favorite roller but right now due to the flicks basically being a gamble on if it works I have to say that dynamo move down a place or two in my rankings it still is fun to play and I look forward to playing it more often (It is now almost 1 AM thank god it's the weekend)

GOLD DYNAMO ROLLER

Well guess who been procrastinating on 4-starring a weapon :) Anyway I finally finished 4-starring this so I guess I got to go over it now huh? Truth be told I don't really like this weapon all to much now that not to say it like vcarbon where I was miserable the whole time playing it, its just that I don't really synergize with this weapon compared to vdynamo. it got splat bomb and super chump the kit is perfectly fine no problems it just that (and I can't believe I'm saying this) I much prefer sprinkler over splat bomb. coming from vdynamo I was using sprinkler basically all the time everybody on the enemy team can be dead and the map is the entirety of our color and I still be throwing sprinklers. There was never a moment where I felt like using sprinkler was a bad idea. Gdynamo on the other hand had splat bomb and because it was 70% of the ink tank on an ink hungry weapon I used it a lot less. Not only the sub, but the specials on the kits also influenced my enjoyment. Vdynamo had cooler a fun special that made you incredibly fast and made dynamo into this scary mobile midline with a wide hitbox. Gdynamo had chumps which requires the weapon to follow up on it to get the most value. Now that I'm looking at it Gdynamo seems to be the harder version of dynamo it has a sub that require more thought to use and a special that while simple to activate has a lot of different strategy to use it. That's not to say vdynamo is an easy weapon its not it just that gdynamo is harder to use. Now even though I talked about how I wasn't a big fan of this kit the weapon is still fun to play and while I had some lows playing this weapon there was also a good amount of highs so I give this weapon a thumbs up and a pat on the back.

FLINGZA ROLLER

Alright if we were judging flingza on just a main weapon basis this would easily be my second favorite roller. flingza is what I consider the Swiss army knife of the roller class. Carbon and Splat is more fighting focus and getting picks with different methods, while dynamo and swig is the more supportive rollers and enable it teams with chip damage and paint. flingza can do both in a way it can support its team with the vertical flick, but when the going gets rough it can use it horizontal flick for getting picks. The main weapon is so fun! But if you remember this is Splatoon and every weapon has a kit and what is flingza kit? ink mine and missiles.... yea I'm not even going to try and dance around this it just missiles spam the weapon that is the unfortunate fate of flingza and what even funnier (If you find it funny) is that it was the only Splatoon 2 weapon with missiles to get missiles again in splat 3. I don't know why exactly but it did, honestly kind of unfortunate because the main weapon of flingza is so cool but it just limited in special spam. Because of what the weapon playstyle is I can't say that it was the most fun roller I played, don't get me wrong I enjoyed it, but I feel like this weapon will be limited to meme builds. I can only hope that the foil variant plays more to the weapon flexibility.

ORDER SPLAT ROLLER

Honestly you can just reread the splat roller entry up top. Like the design and the most likely roller I might 5 star.

This is a really good breakout of each Roller, thank you for writing this up! I definitely agree with the points on the Krak-On Roller, the kit pales in comparison to the Splat Roller, but still has its own place.

FOIL FLINGZA ROLLER

I am incredibly tired right now so I have a strong feeling that this will be somehow even more all over the place than usual, but screw it we ball. Foil flingza is the more aggro version of flingza roller in my opinion. It can get special relatively quickly, but the weapon will need to play off of it in order to get the most value since it got screen. Flingza can shark with screen and become pretty threatening it also has suction which is nice for it. ultimately even though it got all these things going for it I feel the my enjoyment with the weapon is pretty much the same. I thought this weapon would of been my second favorite roller but it is what it is.

BIG SWIG ROLLER

Final roller after all this time and what better to end it with than with big swig a roller that I honestly liked so much so that it was only 10 wins away from 4-starring it so it didn't really take all to long. Let talk about the bad first splash wall. I don't know why this is a trend for nintendo to put splash wall on a roller every game, but whatever I guess nobody cares about splash wall. ink vac is the real star of the show even though it's weaker vac honestly work pretty well with swig as it enables swig to play more defensively which is cool. Even though I like big swig express more due to storm and not having splash wall. I still find vanilla swig to be fun

And with that, I finally finished 4-starring all of the rollers. Pretty happy with the final results here. Last thing I will say is that I do have plans for 4-starring every blaster as well, but I need a break from splatoon since I'm feeling pretty burnt out.

How do I end this?
