Are you having trouble finding a Splatoon 2 group who is consistently active? Have you been wanting to join a group to play League with but have had trouble getting into a competitive squad? Do you just want to play Splatoon 2 with a group of friends but don’t have the time to commit to weekly practices or don’t want any of the responsibilities or formalities that come with being a member of a squad?

Then the Squid Spud Squad is for you!

The Squid Spud Squad, or S3 for short, is a half-competitive-half-casual Splatoon 2 group. However, unlike most semi-competitive squads, we are also an
"open squad." What does that mean? Well, it means that

You don’t need to apply or pass any sort of tryouts to get in and there are no time commitments or minimum rank you have to be to be considered a “competitive player.”

As long as you have a Nintendo Switch, Splatoon 2, and speak English, you are welcome to join S3! That’s it!
S3 is considered a semi-competitive squad because some of us play League. But there’s no hard distinction between “casual” and “competitive” players. We just like playing Splatoon 2 with friends and having a good time.

On that note, you might be thinking:

"Won't a squad like this attract a lot of immature people and players who aren't on the same level as me?"
The mods at S3 try their best to strain out immature people and spammers, and while it's true that not everyone will be the same rank as you are, S3 is a very diverse group. We have people from B- all the way to S+; you're bound to meet a group of people you can play alongside with.

(If you're wondering what's up with the potatoes, S3 is a branch of a larger gaming group called the Spud Squad, which also includes games like Fortnite, Overwatch, and Rocket League. More details about the Spud Squad in the S3 Discord server.)

S3 isn't a typical "semi-competitive" squad. If you're looking for a group where you want to train long and hard with the others and participate in tournaments with, S3 might not be for you.

While we don’t have a minimum age to join, we wish that all our members would be mature and respectful of others. We also aren’t very strict on swearing, so join at your own discretion.

Winning is not the name of the game, but it sure is fun. Playing with friends is much more enjoyable when everyone is a decent player, if you get what I’m saying. But by all means, you don’t have have to be in S+. We are glad to give you pointers on how to improve. Besides, you find more motivation to get better when you’re with supportive teammates.
