What’s Messtival!, you ask?
Messtival! will be a 24 team tournament that will start off with a group stage, during which 16 teams will be eliminated. The surviving 8 teams will then compete in a single elimination bracket to claim the Messtival! title, and all the fame that will obviously come with it.
The matches in the Group stage and the quarter finals will be played as best of 5. The semi finals and the finals will be best of 7.

Messtival! will kick off on Saturday the 17th of October, at 5 PM CEST / 11 AM EST. Team captains are asked to check in on discord anywhere between 4 PM CEST / 10 AM EST and 4:45 PM CEST / 10:45 AM EST on that same day. Failing to check in will result in your team losing all of their group matches.
The second round will be played directly after finishing the groups stage, as this is a 1 day event. Our experience in the Calamari Cup indicated that this shouldn’t be a problem.

You can register your team by replying to this thread or by joining the Messtival! discord server and posting in the register channel. A team may consist of 8 members, and we ask for all NNID’s and IGN’s of said members to be provided. Once your registration is confirmed, it will show up on the bracket, and it will also be posted in the registered-teams channel on discord.
Two teams from the same squad signing up is allowed. We’d prefer that no more than 2 teams from a single squad sign up, but we’re not going to stop a team if they wish to sign up more. That being said, the draw will be completely random so if two teams from the same squad end up in the same group, we are not going to amend the draw.
Edit: it was pointed out to me by the TO's of Booyah Battle, that the tournament data can be collected if teams sign up through challonge instead of the TO manually putting the information in. Having all the tournament data collected will do us all a lot of good in the long run, as we'll be able to have a objective ranking system based on that data.

Depending on the success of Messtival!, we are hoping to turn it into a tournament series. If that happens, seeding will be done in future tournaments based on prior Messtival! results only. However, this trial run will not count towards future seedings.

We will be using the halo style map rotation for Messtival!. To be exact, this is how we are going to decide the maps and modes that will be played:
The maps will be divided into 4 pools of 3 maps by a random draw. Out of those pools, 2 pools will be assigned to each mode, meaning that a number of 6 maps will be played on each mode, which we will rotate.

Communication will go through discord. The server for Messtival! will be up and running from the moment that this post is up. Team captains will have their own channel where only captains and TO’s are able to talk.
The general channel is free to join for everyone! As a spectator you are free to join in and discuss the tournament while it’s running. In the unfortunate case of a disconnect, the disconnecting player is asked to provide proof. We ask all teams to play the current game like you otherwise would, and if a dc is confirmed by one of the TO’s, the game will be replayed with the exact same players and the exact same weapons. We ask everyone for sportsmanship, and if teams can come to an agreement, we as TO’s are not going to butt in.
You are free to substitute a player that disconnected once (or twice if it happened in the replay). If you choose not to, another disconnect by that same player will not lead to a replay. You’ll have to play the game out as a 3v4 and results will be carried forward. The disconnected player is obviously allowed to get back in the match the following game.

A team is allowed to make 1 substitution in a match. This does not include the substitution for a player that had a disconnect. That player may be substituted regardless.
In between matches every team is free to substitute as much as they would like, as long as the starting 4 players are registered to the tournament as a part of that team. This rule still applies if your team ends up with a player short for any reason. You will either have to go in 3v4, or forfeit. While this sounds harsh, it’s the only way to ensure that the substitute rule will not be exploited.

We ask for teams to come to an agreement about who will host the match. If they are not able to do that, they should ask a TO to flip a coin. In the future, we plan to give hosting privilege to the lower seeded team.
