Guessing:

In a Squad, I don't think the primary goal is to compete in tourneys and etc

Team sounds like its primariy goal is to play in tourneys and may have a heavier emphasis on Squadding

A squad is a group of teams which go under the same main name, for example if there are 3 teams in a squad, they could be called NAME 1, NAME 2 and NAME 3.

Thanks! Is there a way to add a team to a squad, or is that just done manually by supplying a link to the team?

As long as both sides agree on the team joining, the members would most likely join their new squad in the 'Groups' section of Squidboards.
