A few questions for you.
  1. What was your first shooter video game? Was it Splatoon, or something else?
  2. Do you actively play any shooters other than Splatoon?
  3. What is your favorite non-Splatoon shooter?
For me:

1. Halo 3 was the first shooter I played back in middle school in 2007 on launch day. I really enjoyed the campaign and multiplayer, doing split-screen couch co-op and Slayer a ton during middle school and high school.

2. Not often, though I do still play Halo campaign co-op with my friend who first got me into the series. Very rarely I pop into an online multiplayer match as well. Used to play Overwatch a bit during the bandwagon period while I was in college, but haven't played in years. I also enjoy The House of the Dead 1 and 2.

3. Tough choice between Halo 2 or 3. I enjoy them both equally!

How about you, what's your story with shooters?

1. Splatoon was my first ever shooter game I ever played which was back in splatoon 1 in 2016. Honestly I don't think there was a better game that could be a introduction in the multiplayer shooter genre. It was so simple and accessible since I could just paint the floor and weapons was more busted especially roller (Main reason why I became a roller main)

2. Not really others shooters has some sort of battlepass, expect you to play everyday to grind for something, A pretty miserable playerbase, or worse microtransaction everywhere. I do love the shooter genre, just take a gun and shoot people. But there hasn't been any other shooters that interested me except for splatoon and one more.

3. Despite everything I just said there is one which is TF2, I haven't played it in a while. But I do wish to get back into it one of these days. (Just have to avoid the majority of community at all cost).

1. I suppose the very first I ever played would be Goldeneye a few times back in the day. But I never owned a copy, just played multiplayer a few times with friends that had it. I dunno how much that really counts, so I'll also add that the first shooter I really got super into was TF2, much much much later (when the Linux port came out in 2013).

2. Nope. Not much desire to revisit TF2 now in its current state...

3. Just TF2, that really is the only other shooter I ever got into.

The only other arena shooter I remember getting into is the Roblox game Tiny Tanks. You drive around a one-HP assault vehicle that shoots Bloblobber-like rebound bullets that nullify each other; the only classes are balance, power (more max ammo), speed (including small hurtbox), and gimmick (huge max ammo but slow firing & reload); and there's a deathmatch mode.

I played this first-person shooter called Receiver II. It plays its firearm mechanics realistically; while I easily learned the controls, the enemies being small single-task automatons makes the game more aim-intensive, and their limited movement and the need of patience for survival makes me advance through the rooms at a snail's pace. I still recommend this.

The single-player shooter series I fondly remember from my childhood is Bubble Tanks. Well, tanks, except zipping around as a fragile speedster won out.

I actually haven't played much if any shooter games beside Splatoon
  1. My first one was Splatoon 2 back when it came out. I'd never tried any before so I got used to Splatoon's mechanics pretty fast

  2. I'm not particularly interested in the shooter genre tbh, all of the first person ones kind of blend in from a distance, and I'm not into guns, so I've never tried any multiplayer shooters. Even single player ones don't appeal much to me. I have a hard time getting excited over shooting things with a gun. Even stuff like DOOM which should be up my alley (I mean it's an action game where you fight demons with tight combat as a guy in sick power armor! It's like, Metroid meets Devil May Cry or something!) doesn't interest me much, I blame the gore. Every time I've played one is because it had something else going for it.

  3. Well I'd say the closest game is Neon White. Really cool game, it's based on speedrunning levels with 'guns' (technically cards) you discard to gain some kind of movement boost. I really loved it. And then... well if you count those I'd say Metroid Prime, and then Resident Evil 4 (only played the original). All of these have some kind of appeal besides shooting people in the head for me, so that made me interested.

1. i played a match of Splatoon 1 at a demo stand in a store, so Splatoon was the first shooter i played, but i was too young to remember it. my real intro to shooter games was Overwatch, which i stopped playing the moment i found out that Blizzard is a piece of s**t company.
2. no not really. if a neat FPS game comes out, maybe i'll get it.
3. none, because i don't play any non-Splatoon shooters.

1. Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare was my first. My stepfather had it and out of all the xbox games he had it was the only one to interest me. I had played the original PvZ and the plant redesigns really intrigued me. Sunflower was my favorite in that game, I liked sniping people with the Sunbeam. Fulfilled the childish need to burn ants with a magnifying glass :)

2. Not really. Couldn't play PvZ:GW after I moved out and nothing else has interested me enough. Also first-person games give me motion sickness so that already severely limits my options.

3. PvZ:GW my beloved. I love silly plant game :)

Splatoon really is my first and only shooter game. No other shooter game has even come close to interesting me this much. The other games I play are either slow-paced sim games or games with turn-based combat. I don't really even play anything else action-y at all.

1 Halo (specifically the first one) my family was really REALLY big into halo before I was even born and so I got into it a bit when I was a lot younger its pretty fun

2 Does slime rancher count? jk no I do not play any other shooters

3 I did try out TF2 recently and while the game is not for me the mechanics and the style of the game are both really interesting to me I even have multiple gear builds based on the mercs in Splatoon

1.) Probably my first ever real experience was shooters was Halo Reach at my friend's house when I was around 8 (I didn't have a console till I was like 11)... we played through the entire thing, just because he kept hyping up the ending... and it turned out to be soooooooooo worth it!
2.) I play a whole lot of counter strike and Half-Life with the occasional halo throwed in there (I don't think my own fps project I'm making counts just yet lol)
3.) Hands down Half-life 2, from the opening... right up to the final... it had me hooked! It really changed how I saw game design and, in a way, inspired me to try and study computer science to get into the industry myself!!! (I start next year... so yipeeeeeeeeeee)

I have played a few others in my time. Back when Valve used to make games, I was addicted to Team Fortress 2. Now I don't want to start playing it again for some reason.
