I feel like there are a lot of people who are excessively harsh towards how good they are at the game and the world needs more positivity in general. Tell me something nice you did in a game of Splatoon. Can be anything really - something you implemented to your gameplay as a whole, a hype moment you got, a strong game you played or so on. You could even send a clip if you want to upload it to YouTube beforehand!

To start, the past few months in particular I've been using the map a lot more in my regular gameplay. Even beyond popping it open after I die it's very nice to open it up for a second to see if people are headed where I am during a game's opening or if I'm just painting and not currently engaged in a fight with someone. If just one person is alive then any hints at where they might be by opening the map can be a huge deal.

I think my overall gamefeel/game sense has improved a *lot* - it's getting easier for me to position myself well & enter interactions that'll be more in my favor, and with that, my overall performance is greatly improved & more consistent game to game.

I also got my first double kill the other day! The clip is too long to append but I promise it happened and it was really cool and helped me get better confidence in my aim 🤧

I've already had a habit of checking the map but I think I've found a good balance on when to pull it out and when to focus on what's happening in front of me.
When I do pull up the map though it's not usually any longer than a second and that honestly feels really good since I know this has been something that I've had to work on to improve.
I slosh over a ledge, hear the sound effect that lets me know that I hit someone, pull up the map for a short second, and then I use that info to determine where they'll probably move next.

My decision making has also gotten better, it's very hard to realize when you need to stop fighting a losing battle and back off so you can regroup and try again.
I can more easily switch between painting for special, poking the enemy team, and actually deciding to move in to fight.

Right now though, I feel like my Slosher has become a lot more consistent. I'm able to more reliably hit my curved sloshes even when I have to quickly react to an enemy player close to me. It feels really good since Slosher is NOT an easy weapon to play.

I am THE anchor. Infallible, undefeatable, ever reliable. You need to jump in? I'm your squid, baby. Fighting a guy? Lemme soften them up for you sweetie. I'll even keep your feet painted while I'm at it. I feel like I can play to that role perfectly. I'm that rock you can lean on. Been paying more attention to my positioning lately too. Particularly when it comes to the more aggressive positions that leads to faster pushes and what not.

And on a slightly related note, I feel so so comfy with Hydra. I flex to a bunch different splatlings in comp. I don't actually get to play Hydra that often. But even after playing Edit or Nautilus for 10+ matches I can still pickup Hydra again no problem. Zero adjustment periods. We were meant to be <3

Earlier in the season I was in rank points debt but now I'm banging my ****ing head against rank up battle. I always get 5 wins in a row and around 300 points in series but then I get 3 losses in rank up. Even though it pisses me off a lot of the time, it's still a significant visible improvement that I'm proud of.

Seriously I love this idea.

One area I feel like I'm improving in is better utilizing specials. What I learned during my time in Japan is how some people use specials to counter specials. The number of times I've seen people use Reefslider to insta-counter my crab was maddening lol but that taught me a most valuable lesson in what other ways you can use specials. Now I tend to use my specials more tactically than just use them.

Also another positive: people don't like Eeltail but I find myself doing so well in that map for reasons I don't know about haha.

The opposite of the weakness thread I like it. I would like to say that I’m getting better at when to go in and when to stay out of fights. Example there was this one game with s-blast during overtime where if I went in and try to go for kills it would’ve been over but I didn’t. I stayed back farm for special and toss booyah bomb at the rainmaker carrier and won the game. This is just one example of me being more aware of when I should fight and when I should stay back.

I feel like my tracking and confidence in taking fights has improved quite a lot. Before I would usually just barely drops kills and play really passive but now I take fights pretty often and actually secure picks and feel good about them.

Does this board even have a clips and highlights thread? Anyway, here’s a Zones game where I was getting frustrated and it was humbling to see on rewatch that it was because I was making a lot of mistakes. But I started cooking at the end and got seven splats in about 20 seconds 💪

I feel like I was born to play Luna Neo. I don't have any saved gameplay on my phone at the moment but everything just clicks for me. Poking with splash damage, hitting directs, using Fizzy for mobility and damage (My ADHD gives me a competitive advantage), clipping backliners and getting wipeouts with Ultra Stamp. I feel like a god playing it, and it's not a brainless weapon either so I feel accomplished for being able to learn it. Zones is my favorite mode with it because it forces opponents into a single controlled area, which means everything can be predicted and played around, Clams is also fun but I just refused to play it for a while so I'm still learning. The only thing I can complain about is that I look insane playing it with my hands whipping around to shake Fizzy and keep up with my movement, I'm glad I never play around others.

I know virtually everything about the game. I have every kit memorized and I know exactly what a given weapon will do in favourable conditions. I’m also quick to recognize and punish patterns in enemy gameplay, that is, when I’m doing well.

Most of my expertise is with regards to Salmon Run. I’ve gotten very good at managing which bosses to tackle in which order, efficiently clearing lesser salmonids, luring each boss effectively, etc..
It’s frankly a bit odd that I don’t play more of the mode.

I've gotten a lot better at Nautilus!! I used to be a carbon roller and brush main, so it's surprising to see me shifting more towards the splatlings. They seem to fit me a lot better, since I'm winning and contributing more! I've still got a lot to go, and definitely should try other weapons, but I've been having lots of fun.
