Splatoon 2 Special Saver Thoughts?

Special Saver has been on my mind a lot lately. Games in S2 feel a lot more fast-paced, and one little wipe can really dismantle a team. But, when you're being spawncamped out, what helps you turn things back around the most? That's right, your special. Tenta Missiles and Stingray can help you scout out anyone hiding out in your base ready to splat you again, Bomb Launcher can help to flush people out of your base and reclaim objectives, Baller can be a huge distraction to bring the enemy team back to mid, so on and so forth.

Obviously, one would be inclined to say "just don't die", but if the QR meta in Splatoon 1 taught us anything, it's that getting splatted is just part of the game for most weapons -- might as well have a failsafe to help turn the game back in your favour if you're having a bad match.

I've been thinking of running it more, and wanna hear some thoughts on it. Like what specials (or kits, by extension) are great to use with it? And is it worth running over Special Charge Up? How much Saver is good (if it's useful at all)?

Outclassed by Comeback and Special Charge Up imo. They still help you get your special back after you die, in Comeback's case it also provides many other perks, and Special Charge Up helps you get it to begin with. They're also still helpful if you die with little to no special charge, whereas Special Saver won't do much then.

I dont know the math, but special charge up feels better. Maybe if you want to run both?

It might be also better for stingray users as its more comfy to use close your spawn anyways, but Im not familiar enough with that.

That meta is very much dead. These days it's valuable for weapons of all classes to avoid death. Special Saver was already situational to begin with, but with the fall of QR the situation has become even worse. As Lonely Dolphin mentioned, Comeback and Special Charge provides overall better benefits for the course of a match.
