Switch 2 leaks i guess

so a bunch of images from a render of Switch 2 have allegedly been leaked, what I’ve heard is that the joy cons are magnetic, it has a microphone and a bigger stand. to avoid getting struck down by the Nintendo gods you have to go look up the images by yourself.

yeah if the switch2 leaks are to be believed (and while nothing is confirmed the specs (though not the renders) at least look to have come from multiple sources) it seems to generally be 'slightly bigger switch with the 3x the ram/much better specs' which tbh is all I wanted. I'm not sure there's a lot to significantly improve on in terms of design at this point. Magnetic joycons would sure be nice though.

What I want to know is if current switch games will be able to take advantage of those better specs. It would be nice to be able to to fight triumvirate without graphical lag (if we're not all playing splat4 by then lol).

I know everyone's worried about the microphone being used for voice chatting with your random teammates lol, but I think nintendo gets that, I doubt it'll happen, so I REALLY hope we get some kind of voice chat implementation for splatoon or discord functionality, it would be SO convenient.
Right now if you want both the game audio and vc coming through your headphones you need a capture card hooked up to a PC monitor and it sounds like such a chore.

As someone with this setup it absolutely is a chore. DIscord integration would actually be ideal I think as long as there's no connection between your discord account and your nintendo account. If someone I meet in game wants to DM me they still have to hunt me down on sendou or something, hah.

i guess the closest thing we have to 'official'/built-in VC is the NSO app's voice functions that nobody uses, so i could see that being directly implemented into the switch as something you can only do if you're over a certain age (13, 16, 18, one of the three), you're in a room with folks on your friends list, and you specifically opt in. i'm very very anti-built-in-VC-in-splatoon but i'd be okay with that, especially since it already essentially exists with the NSO app

now, will it be good enough quality to make people who've already figured out discord switch over? guess we'll see, if this is even gonna be a thing and the microphone isn't just for blowing out the candles in tomodachi life for switch 2 (please)

My hope is even if it is horrible quality you could use headphones with a built-in microphone to get around it, fingers crossed.

But god I remember being 10 or 11 using the garbage 2ds microphone in pokemon alpha sapphire and I actually got to chat with strangers at some point. Yeah let's not do that again lmao. I barely remember anything about it other than it being bad, I won't elaborate

i don't really think nintendo wants to do that anyways 'cause it'd be a lot harder to keep their game family-friendly with vc
