So, we know that there are two shady corporations in Splatoon 2: Grizzco and Kamabo. Some of Cap'n Cuttlefish's raps after beating the expansion suggest that Commander Tartar is the one running Kamabo. "What does this has to do with Salmon Run?" you might ask. We know that Mr. Grizz is running an illegal business. We don't know how he got hold of the Octoleet Goggles in the first place, which by the way, were the same goggles that brainwashed Octolings in Splatoon 1. The idea to support the Octoleet Goggles actually being the real brainwashing ones from Splatoon 1 is the change of name and brand, it's not related to Cuttlegear anymore and is instead given out by Grizzco. This theory suggests that Grizzco and Kamabo stroke a deal in which Grizzco would give Kamabo Golden Eggs while Kamabo would give Grizzco the gear to distribute to the public. The Golden Eggs could be how Commander Tartar powered up the statue. After all, how would someone have mass quantities of illegal items being given out to the public like an easy prize?
