Why do so many splatoon artists use SFM?

Just been wondering for a while now... like I see so many artists use source filmmmaker... but I don't really understand the hype around it

The reason why I use SFM is because it saves so much time for me, I already have too much IRL stuff happening right now that I barely have the time to do art in the first place, so SFM is the next best thing for me right now as there are ways to streamline the creation process and make it quicker.

I have a guy in Mexico who does my art that uses Blender. I've seen both SFM and Blender and I think those who are artist by profession (getting paid) do use Blender for quality while those who are artists by hobby use SFM to save time. But he does use files in SFM as a basis for his work. Nothing wrong with either though!

I just began using blender. like 2 days ago. its just comfy for me.

Usually when most people use SFM it just as a hobby. Most of them don’t really have any intention in becoming a professional artist so they just use SFM as a hobby or for fun like Cephalobro and briank913 mentioned. Coming from a SFM artist myself.
