I wouldn't say Krak-on Roller is better. It serves a more offensive role since the weapon packs more power, but the Octobrush is a better support weapon since it's faster. Which is why I think Beaken works better for the Octobrush then the Krak-on Roller, since disregarding any speed modifiers...
I personally prefer doing this with the Octobrush. While yes it's slower, it's still fairly fast and sports better range then the Inkbrush, and being able to plant beakens can really turn the tide of battle in some cases.
Specials that force the opponent off the tower like Inkstrike, Kraken, and Kill Wail are useful. When you use those you force the opponent into a Morton's Fork situation: Either get off the tower or eat the attack and die, but either way they'll lose control. Keep in mind that with Inkstrike you...
I think he meant more so that you shouldn't follow your team depending on the context. Like if your team is constantly jumping to a specific area and getting slaughtered because of it, a better choice would to to find a detour and backstab the other team or claim turf while the opponent is...

Villager, Robin, Mii Fighter.

I've never seen this problem myself. I mean sure I've seen purple and pink colors, but they're normally contrasted by something like Purple/Orange or Pink/Blue.
Ironically, I find focusing on killing over covering territory to be more useful during Splat Zones. Once the zone is covered up, you don't need to cover territory, just focus on making sure it stays that way by repelling enemy fire.
