I bought Uprising over the holiday.
Although the game had quite the hype in the early 3DS days, the game is still REALLY underrated imo.
Its my favorite game on the 3DS. Great dialogue, fun characters, gameplay that's on the level of Treasure games.
I know Sakurai said he's not interested in a...
Like most games the first thing that got me was the artstyle. Splatoon is a multiplayer shooter I feel I've been wanting for a LONG time.
Nice and colorful. Cartoon-ish graphics. Fun character designs. And a lower age focus so its fun for all ages.
The game had me sold since the first trailer...
I think I'll prefer Splat Zones considering its a bit more "clear" what's going on.
The regular mode just seemed kinda odd to me that you can barely tell who's winning sometimes, but I'm sure it will still be a lot of fun too though.
The movement options of Splatoon ironically reminds me of something like Gears of War when it first came out.
I had a blast somersaulting around trying to out maneuver them to get in range to blast them with a shotgun.
I could imagine a lot of close range Splatoon combat could end up a lot...
I don't pay that much attention to competitive shooter scenes, but don't they usually run one person per setup? I mean, they'd kinda have to because split-screen would be pretty detrimental to the player.
Sadly this means any hope for running Splatoon tournaments, even as simple as 1v1 would...
Glad to hear they're at least trying to focus the game on a competitive level at the start so we don't get the weird "party game" identity crisis that Smash has struggled with.
Now will they succeed, time will tell, but I'm excited to at least try and make it competitive.
Well we are on a thread that's an off-shoot of a Smash thread. lol
But in all seriousness, probably bit, though for a lot of people it might be a bit much to try and keep up with two VERY different kinds of games.
Though considering it IS a Nintendo game if it shows up mostly at Smash events...
For online shooters I feel I rarely use voice chat at all when playing with random people in matchmaking and ends up being more of a distraction to me.
And I'm fine with no voice chat due to the obvious issue with game being kid friendly. Though, yeah I wish Nintendo would make some kind of...
hmmm for me both the gender and possible color option would depend what outfits are in the game.
Though of course I'm drawn to wanting to play as a squid girl, but I actually really like the Inkling Boy design.
I'm not exactly panicking about no customizable modes yet since there's not much I can see that seems that detrimental to a competitive scene.
And the comparisons to Smash feel a bit hyperbolic to me. Nothing appears as extreme as items are to Smash, but we'll see I guess.
I'm using Octoboards theme mostly because the darker theme is easier for me to read.
I do hope they make more darker themes, a bit of a bummer there's only one, but perhaps more are to come.
