I also joined thanks to this post! I'm so glad there's a forum up for Splatoon, especially seeing as most fan-communities are moving totally to Discord (which has the negative of being easily lost and archival efforts aren't really accessible). Your propaganda is working! B)
THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING! Platforms like Discord are going to shut down Eventually™, and when that time comes, there will be almost certainly zero archives of anything on it due to the nature of the platform, which irks me severely. Not only do forums circumvent this issue, they're also just... more pleasant to interact with people on, in my experience.
Yes, my thoughts exactly! Discord should be used more as a group talking setting rather than an archival device because oh my god that's going to go horribly. Like yes, forums can shut down, but they can be archived via the Wayback machine and also, like, posts can be saved and crossposted! But discords by nature are so isolated and separate that it's just a disaster waiting to happen. :-(
