A bunch of rules, straight from the original Zapfish OOC, read below.
I. pre-pre-game: Introduction:

Hello and welcome to Zapfish Academy. I'm glad to see such a burgeoning community coming to be here and I want to offer another Roleplay to muck around in and get to know each other. This RP will be more sandbox; this serve the double purpose of not requiring me to be there all the time and to change the style of things up for a more casual roleplay! :D

I'll explain this more in the rules below, but the general idea of this game is to just have fun and play around with your character, to really get to see them in action.

II. read first ask questions later: Rules to Note Before Playing the Game:
This RP is designed to be casual in nature. As such, there will be a two week time frame where people can just post whatever whenever they want. This is more supportive of laid back play, but can be frustrating sometimes because people will post in unequal amounts. Just know that when playing, you're in it to have fun. Don't wait for someone who isn't posting. Don't feel you have to keep up with those that post three times a day. Just have fun, let it all out, live your character, play the scenario.

Next! Forum-goers can apply to be a player or a GM. For every GM that the game has, the maximum number of players allowed in the game rises by ten. However, if you are a GM, you cannot participate in the game proper. Right now, we only need one GM to manage things, but as there are more people that join the game, I hope that some people will step up to the plate and join me on the managing pedestal.

In any case, the game will begin when I have at least three players. The cap at the moment is ten players, but as stated before, that can rise as more people come and go through the forum.

Once again, once this recruitment thread is filled up, I'll change this to an OOC (Out of Character) thread where people can discuss things as themselves.

III. what am i even doing???: How the Game Will be Done

So, as this is a more casual RP, interaction between the GM(s) and the players will be minimized. Basically, game flow will work like this:

1. 
   
   
   • The GM provides a scenario
   • The players play out the scenario for two weeks OR until they decide to move on
   • The GM wraps up the scenario and provides a new one

In between, GMs would introduce new characters to the mix as they join the RP through whatever shenanigans they feel is apropos. Otherwise, the players would just play out the scenario until they feel like they're done. GM interaction would only be at request to solve conflicts between players, move from scene to scene, or correct factual or physical impossibilities.

This RP is fast and loose and should be pretty easy to understand once it gets going.

Name(s): Kei Corriente
Age: 14
Race: A jellyfishling? A jellying? We may never know.

Appearance: Curly, light purple, luminescent bangs. Oversized luminescent hair, stands of bulgy hair near the top. Teal eye color, light purple and white frilly shirt. Long navy blue jeans. An oversized hat. Purple sneakers.

Relations: Unknown

Friends: A small Jellyfish named Jalea.

Personality: Clueless, oblivious, a lack of intelligence, naive, easily distracted.

Backstory: Kei doesn't remember much about her past herself, just that she was just exploring the world only to come across the city the other creatures call "Inkopolis". She never really talk to the Inklings, shrimp, sea anemones or horseshoe crabs that live there. She only felt comfortable around the other jellyfish, she'd usually begin a conversation with a passing jellyfish and constantly ask him/her questions about the history of the city and squid creatures until she'd bore them enough that they would leave. Kei soon came across a jellyfish named "Jalea". She'd listen to Kei's questions and try to answer them as best as she could. Sometimes Jalea would try to teach Kei to read and write, but most of the time Kei will get distracted by anything happening in the city square. Kei had joined in a couple of turf wars, enough to learn how to use a Splat Charger.
And thus ends Kei's story for now..

Name(s): Viola
Age: 15
Race: Inkling
Appearance: Viola is, normally, a purple inkling whose frame is smaller than most. Her large tentacles and back tentacles are all puled back into a set of large pigtails and her bangs are more frayed. Normally, she can be seen wearing a white button blouse tucked into a skirt capable of changing primary color with hers, adorned with a large ribbon in the back, knee high socks folded at the top, and flats strapped over with similar color changing abilities as the skirt. During the autumn and winter, however, she wears custom made white and purple trainers, black tights, and a black turtleneck as opposed to the blouse. A, somewhat, unique trait that Viola has is that her body will change it's shade based on how she's feel, becoming lighter if she's sad/scared/ or sick, or becoming darker when angry or jealous.
Personality: Ever the cheerful little ball of ink, Viola is quick to befriend anyone who she teams up with. She treats all, regardless of race or whatnot, like friends, never changing her opinion. She's very easy to approach and talk to and is a great listener. This betrays her play in Turf Wars, though, as she's just as quick to take you down. Unfortunately, this doesn't translate to Ranked battles, where her lack of self confidence is quick to show. If you know what to do, she can be easily flustered into making simple mistakes and ruining her team's chance to win. As such, she strays away from ranked battles due to not having found a team that can help her with these issues. Deep down, she's just a bundle of anxiety, which makes her indecisive. Along with this is a bit of a balance issue, causing her to be a bit of a klutz. Somehow, during Turf Wars, her balance is perfect. Outside, however, she finds herself meeting the ground a little too often for her liking. Also, due to her aforementioned shade changing, she tends to be very honest, due to her body never truly allowing her to lie.
Backstory: Born to a normal family, Viola was raised just as such. As she grew up, she was frequently overshadowed by the achievements of all her classmates and friends, leading to her, mostly hidden, self-confidence problem. One day, her best friend Zyless, took her to Inkopolis to try and introduce her to Turf Wars. Viola, however, didn't want to participate and, instead, decided to check the shops while Zyless battled. When she found out they wouldn't let her in until she got to a certain level of freshness, she decided to try it enough to see what the fuss was about. Initially terrified of fighting, she lucked out and got paired with other inklings that helped her calm down and get used to the fights. As she battled, she grew to enjoy it and, eventually, got paired against her best friend. The match went back and forth the entire time until, at the very end, Viola's side lost. Afterwards, the two talked about the match and how close it was. At that point, Viola was hooked and couldn't stop splating.

Unfortunately, due to her father getting a job transfer recently, Viola had to leave her friend's behind and move. She was enrolled in Zapfish Academy, as it was the closest school, and she has yet to find her place in it. She decided to blend in until she made some new friends, ultimately figuring the clubs would help with just that.

Name(s): Lydia
Race: Inkling
Appearance: A normally lime-green Inkling with her tentacles tied back and into a braid, Lydia wears a pair of thick, black-rimmed glasses and normally isn't seen out of her school uniform, although she tends to prefer wearing white, thigh-high socks with a pair of black and white loafers.
Personality: Normally shy and reserved, she can come off as a cold individual when first talking to her, especially if she's in the middle of her work. However, she is quite sincere and caring to those she considers friends or allies. During Turf Wars, she tends to prefer sticking to the back of her squads and setting up with one of her various Chargers, not hesitating to splat someone that tries to approach her or her allies. She tends to make a bad habit out of taking things to literally, often mistaking any harmless teasing or horsing around as a much more serious circumstance that what it should be. While too reserved to interfere at the time, she does transfer her piled up aggression towards the "bully" if she were ever to run into him or her during a Turf War, be it ally or enemy. She either refuses to assist or relentlessly assault (respectively) the individual, costing her team the match on more than one occasion.
Background: Growing up as a shut-in, it was difficult to get Lydia to leave her home if it wasn't necessary. She found the company of technology far more comforting, enjoying assembling and disassembling anything she could get her hands on. On request from her father, she started to take up Turf Wars, both to become more social and to get a bit more exercise that exceeded running around the house to grab her various tools. While initially not finding too much enjoyment in Turf Wars, she was quite fascinated with the plethora of weapons she saw during the various Turf Wars. Once she was considered fresh enough, and after quite a few weeks of begging and borderline harassing, she convinced Sheldon to take her under his wing and teach her how to assemble and disassemble any weapon he would allow her to buy. Luckily, the Turf Wars became the perfect field to see how well her weapons work after she reconstructed them personally.

Growing more excited with each new weapon she would get our hands on, she soon found herself enrolling at Zapfish Academy in order to learn more about the processes behind weapon development, hoping to one day be able to create new equipment for a living, along with another eager techy that she could teach everything she learned.

Race: [Inkling]
Appearance: [Lucas is an Inkling... who is not yet fully grown, so normally you'll just see him as mostly humanoid, but with a light blue squid head, and he has brown eyes. He is usually seen wearing a with shoes.]
Relations: [Has brother named Andrew, and also haves parents who often worry about the him since Lucas isn't fully grown yet and the he has a knack of getting into trouble via pranks and messing with people.]
Backstory: [On Lucas's 14th birthday, he discovered he would be having a humanoid form later then usual, but since his 15th Birthday has passed, his expected to have his full humanoid form soon enough, and while waiting to fully grow into his full humanoid form he usually stays home since he isn't fresh. He grew up in Inkopolis, near the Moray Towers, where mostly everyone knows about Lucas's "condition". He still lives in Inkopolis being a somewhat known due to his pranks and jokes. Lucas's reasons for pranking people is because he's not a full grown Inkling, and can't fight Turf Wars yet, and a Inkling has to do something with his time.]
Personality: Lucas is a social Inkling, and often at times crack jokes or make very snarky remarks at anyone mostly. Though deep inside, he habors jealously of other Inklings his age who are fully grown, and often feels lonely since doesn't have anyone to relate to about his issues with his stunted growth. He loves to voice act as he watch's a lot of TV Shows and often tries to do voices by himself as a hobby.

Age: 16
Race: Inkling
Appearance: Blue Inking girl, brown eyes, Designer Headphones, School Jersey, and Cyan Trainers. Would sometimes wear the school uniform outside of school grounds because she thinks it's cute.
Weapons: N'Zap 89, Aerospray RG, and Golden Dynamo Roller
Personality: Very competitive, quick to lose her temper that she will charge head on out of frustration. Violet is not afraid to get things done and do what she can to get the things she wants. May come off as arrogant, but wants the best for her team. Always going for the direct approach when making friends. She is also very passionate about Turf Wars, music, video games, and cartoons. Likes to eat sweets and hates veggies. Has a love for puns and willing to make one or laugh with it.
Relations: Mother and father, idolizes bands like the Squid Sisters, ABXY, Squid Squad, and Hightide Era
Backstory: Violet grew up in Flounder Heights with her mother and father in a fairly normal life. Looking at the Turf Wars in the Inkopolis News, she wanted to be a part of it and tries to convince her parents to let her join in. When she was able to participate in Turf Wars at 16, Vio kept on going to push her and the team to the top. She loves being so active, hardly standing still during matches. After seeing the Squid Sisters perform in Splatfest, she also has a dream to be a singer herself. But has a bit of a stage fright, despite loving to show off in battles. Vio feels safe in recording her voice alone. She is often found listening to her music, dancing and singing to the beats of the top bands. Sometimes even on her iSquid to check on the latest gear and news.

Wanting to gain all the knowledge she can about the Turf Wars and improving her abilities, Vio got enrolled to Zapfish Academy. As time goes by in the school years, Vio hopes to find some good friends to be part of the team. Her favorite subject will most likely be PE.

Name: Chaos
Age: 18
Race: Inkling
Appearance: (refer to my profile pic) Black Arrowbands, Black Inky Rider, and Armor Boots Replica
Personality: Chaos is a quiet and shy type of person despite trying to look cool. If you talk to him, he is actually a very nice person in the inside. He has a kind and honest heart and is sworn to protect anyone he truly cares for, though he can be the emotional and jealous type sometimes. In a relationship, he becomes protective and hostile towards anyone close to his loved one. Mainly because he refuses to let a certain moment happen again. (See bio for more info.)
Relations: Doesn't wanna mention family. Doesn't have any friends except for Spyke
Bio: Chaos has always lived a lonely life. He had little to no friends and his parents argue from time to time. Heck, he never even had a good birthday. So instead of getting gifts, he has to go buy them himself, with his own money. When's he out in the Plaza, he tends to hang out in the alley with Spyke, mainly whenever he sees a couple, it reminds him of his past relationships. Apparently, every girl he has dated has left him for another guy with no explanation despite being so loyal to her. Sometimes he himself found out he was cheated on which made him feel betrayed and had no purpose at all. He questions if it's his own fault and blames himself or if he'll ever live a happy life.

In battles, he'll go out and do his own things such as claiming turf, helping a teammate, or go after any enemy Inkling on sight. Though sometimes he'll become a hothead and let out all his anger on everyone just to express his emotions of his past life. Even his teammates that he's placed with can be a bit afraid of him, but he doesn't mean to scare anyone at all.

Because of his high skills, he was offered to enroll in Zapfish Academy after a teacher witnessed his performance on Turf Wars and some Ranked Battles. He shrugged and accepted the offer, mainly because he can be bored of being in the alley sometimes, and so that he actually get off his lazy butt and do something that's not battle-related.

Name - Matthew
Age - 14/15
Appearance - Pilot Goggles, Zekko Hoodie, Pro trail boots
Personality - Matthew can be somewhat quiet at times, and very paranoid most of the time, getting to know him can be quite difficult as he can become hostile if provoked. However he is very trustworthy of his friends and family, and is very of observant of people's emotions. One of his favorite hobbies is drawing and can become a bit insecure about his ability to draw.
Relations - One of his best friends have moved outside of Inkopolis but they still talk to each other through the internet, he lives with his mother and little brother.
Bio - Matthew has always had a normal life, good school, good family, everything seemed perfect for him. Until his parents began fighting and eventually divorced, this didn't really affect him though, as he still visited his dad every weekend. Eventually, him, his little brother, and his mother moved to Inkopolis. Adjusting to his new surroundings was a challenge, since he never stepped foot in the city until now.

Eventually, he began playing Turf Wars and it became one of favorite passtimes, and eventually made to Ranked battles though he was never a big fan them to begin with. One of favorite weapons became the 52 gal and began climbing in ranked all the way to A+.

Soon after, he was noticed for his quick thinking and good decision making and became enrolled in Zapfish Academy. This was great for him as he felt as if battling in ranked became sort of stale after a while.

Recently, he's been doing nothing drawing, as it was always been his passion.

Eh I'll post an updated version of my Inksona for you guys to know some more about my character.

Name: Terence Colovance
Age: 14
Race: Inkling (Want to be specific, Colossal Squid)

Appearance: He wears a Yellow Urban Vest with a Rockenberg Black Tee inside, and black slacks with the signature Ink Colour stripe running down the sides. His Hair is usually in a Tenta-tail, unless it's a special occasion then it's slicked back in a 'Kelp Wreath' pattern. He wears no headgear, he wants to stare into the eyes of his enemies in battle. His Ink Colour out of battle, is usually a navy blue. Because of an unknown fight, he has a circular, teeth-mark covered scar on his forearm. He isn't willing to talk about it.

Family: Mother, baby brother Mico.
Friends: Canchi, Evelyn, Adara and Ikara.
Weapons of Choice: .52 Gal, Heavy Splatling and a Tentatek.

Personality: He's slightly cold and analytical, he'll sometimes get too cold in the field of battle and he'll see his teammates as weaklings or a walking target for the enemy. But his analytical attitude during battle allows him to see through this narrow-minded tunnel-vision and fight. He's... explosive on the field of battle. If he is splatted or offended in any way, he'll try to ram his Splatling into your face; whilst unloading it. But out of battle, he's a reserved, almost taciturn Inkling, he usually won't be the first to talk. Nor will he be the first to reveal anything. But if you crack that shell, he'll blab your ear off.

Backstory: Terence moved from the Arctic Seas, where his father passed away from a Ink-Sac disease on the long voyage. He was pretty devastated over it, but Terence presses forward. After his little brother started to walk and move, Mico decided to constantly follow Terence. Getting into the weirdest places, a stage arena? you betcha, his brother seemed to have a way of getting around. Terence had to get past his new kid 'aura' and make friends, which was hard especially if they had a strange little brother who seemed to be everywhere. Because of this he was separated from the other people of Inkopolis, and he could only find friends in Turf Wars. He excelled in it solely because he was able to pack a lot of firepower(Inkpower) to destroy his opponents. He was originally enrolled in another academy. But he threw a bullying Inkling through a window like a sack of potatoes, his mother after a heavy scolding, had enrolled him into Zapfish Academy.

Race: Inkling/ unknown hybrid

Weapons: None

Appearance: Vincent has long black tentacles, green eyes, and pale skin as well as a stick figure like body. He wears Crazy Arrows and a Retro Gamer Jersey

Personality: He's pretty introverted. Although very naive to battling, he is a bit of an anylyst. (A lot of the times I just put myself in his shoes)

Backstory: He just moved to the area. Nobody really knows of him. Born with a ink deficiency, he was oddly accepted into the Zapfish Academy without even any request. After a bit of debate, he decided to see what this will entail for his life ahead of him as it may be a once in a lifetime opportunity.
