Ink Rush

The Ink Brush was just released at 7:00 P.M PST and already the weapon has been branded as a bad weapon for its inability to deal with upfront confrontations. They would be correct. The Ink brush's range is out classed by every weapon in the game including other rollers. The main draw of the weapons is the roll speed it has which is the speed of a swimming squid. This gives it two distinct advantage in battle.

Advantage #1 The ability to retreat as an Ink brush is key. Enemies cannot under any chase you due to your speed even through their own ink. This means that if you are running away from an enemy once you are out of range you're safe. How is this helpful. In every map (minus Arowana Mall) there are multiple side paths in which the ink brush can traverse. Which means in almost all situations the Ink Brush can attempt to speed through enemy lines to gain a positional advantage. Behind enemy lines an Ink Brush can mount a pincer attack against an opponent or simply allow ones allies to super jump behind enemy lines. Case in point if you see an ink brush behind enemy lines jump to him if he is safe and it would be advantageous to your team for you to be there. Keep in mind super jumping doesn't have to be from spawn.

Advantage #2 The Ink Brush's speed can sometimes trap an opponent into believe they are in control of a situation. Using Port Mackerel as an example an enemy may see an Ink Brush down a corridor. Ink around a crate and observe your opponent. They now have three options. 1 Continue forward: they go to exterminate the threat presented in front of them and continue to ink straight forward, flank them and swat their back. 2 Read A flank: If the stop firing and turn around rush in and swat them down. 3 Wait: Pausing is their best option as it allows them to consider their options while being aware of their surroundings which allows you to slip past them into enemy territory which is advantage number 1. In all three scenarios the Ink Brush was in control of the situation. However it is important to note that this only applies in a 1v1 skirmish in any case of multiple threats retreat as the Ink Brush will most likely lose.

Tactics Examples

Here we have salt spray rig. A map that highly favors Ink Brush play. It has three basic sections. Spawns, High Area, and Low Area. The High Area is the area to the top right of the map (based on this screen) and ends at the section with the elevators. Because of how this map is set up your spawn areas are almost impervious to attack allowing the ink brush player to enter danger zones in four areas highlighted here.

A majority of the fighting will happen here with the direction of enemy forces coming from the direction of the arrows.

to be continued when internet is more stable.
