Welcome to Splatoon Community League! In this thread, you will find almost all general information and rules!

  • Team Composition
    • Teams may have no more than 8 players
    • Players may only be on one team at a time
    • Teams may add or drop players at any time
      • Once a team adds new players, they must wait 10 days before adding more. There is no such restriction for dropping players
    • Teams must have a captain, who will be responsible for speaking for the team
  • Gameplay Procedures
    • Teams should use whatever methods they can for scheduling matches (the thread, member wall, PMs, Skype, Discord, etc.)
    • If the teams cannot come to an agreement on who will host the game, the team ranked lower will host the first game, and subsequent games will be hosted by the loser of the previous one.
    • Teams should follow the full procedure found in a spoiler at the bottom of this post
    • Switching members during a set is prohibited, unless the opponent allows it
    • Teams are encouraged to play multiple sets in one sitting if they want to
    • After playing, both teams should converse and decide on one person who will post the results in the appropriate thread
      • Please do not have two people post the same results
      • The other team should check to ensure that all results are correct.
        • In the event of a dispute, both teams will be asked to provide proof of the results. As such, we recommend taking pictures of the results screens
      • If you wish to submit a tournament match for ranking, please state what tournament it is from in your post
        • Both teams must be registered with SCL for the set to be eligible
        • We will look at tournaments on a case-by-case basis to determine whether they will be eligible for ranking
        • Results from our bi-weekly tournaments do not have to be reported.
  • Rankings
    • Teams will be ranked using an Elo system
      • Individuals will not be ranked
    • Teams must play 3 sets before they can be ranked
    • Information published about rankings will be which tier they are in and their position in that tier respective to other teams
    • Updated rankings will be posted regularly
  • Infractions and their punishments
    • If a team has more than 8 members, they will be considered ineligible for ranking until they drop down to 8
    • If a player is found to be on multiple teams, they will be banned for a period of time to be determined by the staff
    • If the staff feels that two teams are playing each other too often, they will be asked to play other teams more. If this continues, games between those two teams will not be counted towards ranks
    • If the staff feels that a team has been inactive for too long, they will send the team leader a message asking them to participate. If they are still inactive two weeks after the message is sent, they will be removed from the rankings
      • The team may then register again to start from the beginning
      • If a team has a legitimate reason for being inactive, they should message a staff member (preferably ahead of time), who will accommodate them
    • If a team is found to be playing with unregistered players, they will be temporarily banned
    • Unsportsmanlike conduct will be dealt with with a punishment appropriate of the behavior
  • Contacting the staff
    • To contact the staff, private message any of the users listed as staff on the SCL group. They will help you or refer you to someone who can.
    • Please do not hesitate to contact us for any reason. We are happy to help you with whatever you need
    • We rely greatly on users reporting infractions, so please message us if you see one
Each set is played as a best of 5.

Teams should decide who will host. If they cannot come to an agreement, then the lower ranked team will host the first game. If neither team are ranked, then flip a coin or something.

Use the gametypes that will be used for ladder matches are the same as those that will be featured in the next upcoming SCL tournament. A full list of them should be found in the thread for that tournament in the tournament listings subforum of the site. Because the gametypes are different for each round of the tournament, teams should agree on which round they should use the gametypes from. If the teams cannot come to an agreement, then they will default to playing the gametypes from Winners Round 1.

Each set is played as a best of 3.

Before Game One:
Teams should decide who will host. If they cannot come to an agreement, then the lower ranked team will host the first game.

Game one:
Mode is chosen through striking. Team 1 strikes one mode, team 2 strikes another, the third is what is played.
If teams cannot agree on an order for striking, then the higher-ranked team strikes first?
The mode list for game one is:
  • Splat Zones
  • Tower Control
  • Turf Wars (to be replaced by Rain Maker when that is released)
Map is chosen through 1-2-1 striking. The team who struck the mode second strikes first for maps (team 2 strikes one, team 1 strikes two, team 2 strikes one, the one that is left is chosen).
The map list for game one is:
  • Walleye Warehouse
  • Urchin Underpass
  • Arrowanna Mall
  • Blackbelly Skatepark
  • Saltspray Rig
Both teams choose their weapons
The teams play on the chosen Mode and Map.

Game two:
Loser of Game one chooses the mode. There are no bans. All game modes are able to be chosen.
Winner of Game one bans two maps, and Loser of Game one chooses from the remaining maps. All maps are able to be chosen.
Both teams choose their weapons
The teams play on the chosen Mode and Map

Game three (If necessary):
Loser of Game two chooses the mode. There are no bans. All game modes are able to be chosen.
Winner of Game two bans two maps, and Loser of Game two chooses from the remaining maps. All maps are able to be chosen.
Both teams choose their weapons
The teams play on the chosen Mode and Map
How would one get involved with SCL if they are an individual player? It sound great.

Join a team and sign up! There are a few ways this could be done. You could form your own team with your friends or you could try to get onto an existing team. We have a thread here in the SCL group that you could post in, and there are others on this site as well, I believe
