Mollusks somehow got their DNA mixed with humans in an attempt to prevent their own extinction.

Idk, most of what inklings and humans have in common is just surface level resemblance.

They look human which is odd. How can a squid look human? Must be hybrid of human with sea creature. Probably an effort to preserve human kind.
