...Has a backstory! We don't know it yet, but check out this video: (6:18)

He's the cat who judges Turf Wars and all the online multi-player modes. ;)

Judd is certainly an interesting character. The cat appeared in a lot of images during the single player trailer. It's interesting how you will apparently learn backstory throughout the campaign.

Makes me even more curious and optimistic about the single player campaign.

Well, at least we know there will be SOME lore to the single player.

That's what I was hoping, hero mode showing lore for the inklings and octarians.

Hopefully itll be a lengthy single player. I know the size of the game is apparently small but heres hope to a good story

I really don't think size of the game matters for content.

Mighty switch force was 1000 blocks for 16 levels while pushmo was about 200 for over 250 levels AND stage creation.

I know that's kinda a dumb comparison but still

Also I think wind waker hd had a sorta small file size

But ad far as shooters go the story mode is never really that big since the emphasis is on multiplayer. Knowing how well nintendo crafts their stories im really interested to see if they will change up the formula that all fps games have used (third person shooting turf war style is a change but i mean as far as other content)

The singleplayer is somewhere in the area of 30 missions long.

As for Splatoon only being about 2gigs in size, that's largely because Nintendo are friggin' wizards. Most games are full of code and assets that never end up getting used--stuff worked on but never fully implemented, cut features, etc. Nintendo does a lot better job than most companies about getting rid of this excess. They're also just flat out magical when it comes to compression.

What if judd is the mastermind behind the Octarian forces?
Or maybe even a spy?
But if he is the bad guy then why would he be the match judge? Also he could be a prisoner of the octarian army

I actually like the "Judd is evil" idea.

Though maybe he's a frienemy sorta thing.

Yeah! Like an anti-hero kinda thing.

I wonder if we'll also see some of the characters from the shops in the single player. Or if not them in particular, perhaps their relatives?

That would be awesome, seeing Annie somehow be helpful in defeating the octarians.
