I do agree it is the best weapon in the game i dont think its overpowered. In a theoretical world where it is highest dps 100% of the time you would just get one shot by a charger before youre in range. In practice it is pretty great by far the best pub weapon imo

For a competitive scene to thrive like halo 2, this would need an LAN mode for 4v4 teams, Online Tournaments are a most but the patch in august will bring around more competitive news. Hopefully Nintendo supports it like it does Pokemon :^)
