Splatoon Team Synergy/Map movement Guide (Git Gud Squid)

Well "Splatoon Competitive Guide (Git Gud Squid)" is a bit better, but it's not specific enough. You posted in the competitive discussion, so a good portion of the posts here are competitive guides. I've skimmed this post, and it looks like it's focused on team play, so how about "Team Synergy...

    Why are Motion Controls Avoided?

Oh, yeah, I hate having to actually sit up and stop leaning my arms on my chair or something to start doing well in a match. I used to slouch super low and put my legs up against my wall when I played.

    Symmetry and Balance in Competition

Hi, Friends, Our game is still very new, so people are still discussing and evaluating our maps, gamemodes, and weapons. We all have our preferences, and people have taken a disliking to many of the game's features, whether it be rollers, Port Mackerel, Rainmaker, etc. While that's fine, it...

How often do you check the gamepad?

I find it kind of cool yet strange that, if you're patient enough, you can watch where the ink is growing to guess where the enemy is. It feels like UAV for free.

    Rainmaker: Two possible issues

I think that strategies like this make rainmaker really good and deep. Although kills aren't the objective, they're very important so you have to really careful at all times. The importance of kills will lead to certain strategies, executions, etc. that we see in games like CS:GO.

Splatoon Team Synergy/Map movement Guide (Git Gud Squid)

I hate to be that guy, but the title is pretty garbage, which is probably why this thread has no activity,

    Rainmaker: let's talk strategy.

I could not agree more, I think that rainmaker is, by far, the best mode in the game right now in terms of competitive potential, creativity, and sheer fun because of it's diversity. Also, does anybody have the specifics on the anti-camp mechanism on the rainmaker? How much time, how much...

    Idea for Splatfest

I guess I would be down to rig the system, although I would feel bad about it. To be honest, though, it probably wouldn't become big enough to guaruntee that you're on the winning team. I think that, if you really don't care about who you represent, you can just guess who will win to get the...

Splatoon Fun Minigame Ideas. (Private lobby games)

I thought of this because we played dodgeball in my friend's basement using these rules, and it was really fun. Obviously this has a few changes to make it fit for splatoon. Secret Agent Team Sizes: equal numbers on each team, ideally 4v4 and probably no lower than 3v3. In Game Gamemode...

Personal opinions on buffs/nerfs that should happen

You're right, it encompasses all of video games. Smash doesn't let you strike stages either, but people still do that. First of all, people get around the limitations of a game all the time. Second, these things are subject to change.

Personal opinions on buffs/nerfs that should happen

I think that's just part of their uniqueness and their balance. I really like that ability, because by choosing the blaster, your team can now stop a tower with just one player, and you aren't completely ****ed if the rest of your team is respawning.

Personal opinions on buffs/nerfs that should happen

It's not a smash thing. Play/Counterplay has been a thing in just about every competitive game. It's a key aspect to MOBAs and RTS games, too. That's why they have picking and banning phases in Dota, and that's why scouting is important in SC2.

How to effectively communicate through voice chat?

I brought this up in one of my threads and another one, but you can call certain callouts one thing or another based on which side of the map it's on. I suggest Good vs. Bad, e.g. Good Alley vs. Bad Alley, the thin side corridor on Mall. Good and Bad follow the game's way of naming teams, and...

Splatoon Top 5 Plays - I'd like to start it, what do you guys think?

I've started trying to organize some people, and we're toying around with quite a few ideas. I think we'll have a video or two done within a week, so stay tuned!

Good lord the color variety in Team Ranked is horrible

I do agree with you for the most part, but it's a huge part of the game's visuals. Even though you stay for the gameplay, many games do draw you in with their art style and such, like Hearthstone or Mario Kart. A few changes in color make the game that much more exciting, despite how easy it is...
