Goodbye Old Meta (Patch 2.7.0 is Insane!)

Best way to handle Hydra probably would've been to increase its range and charge rate, and leave the damage where it was. Hell, a good first step for pretty much every weapon would be to actually list all of its stats instead of only showing three. Shooter stat listings don't touch on mobility...

every time i watch gyro control gameplay, i remember that i'll never, ever get mouse/keyboard support, and i die a little inside

With the exception of "EPIC HIPSTER" sorts who will just be mad that they can't run Hydra anymore.

The buff allows slightly better ranged play, yes, but rushdown as a strategy isn't exactly punished when the strategy maintained via Damage Up and only committing when a charged Kraken is on hand, which improved accuracy makes a bit safer The only reason this isn't an outright buff is because...

.96 isn't really buffed, though. The damage reduction certainly isn't the ideal way of going about things (a reduction to range/fire rate would do far more), but it now demands Damage Up to ensure its TTK doesn't fall to the wayside. Deco also has the new special loss (again, not the ideal way...

Goodbye Old Meta (Patch 2.7.0 is Insane!)

The difference between the old and new versions is essentially that the old version was far more spammable, but the new version is a bit more powerful. The increased cost and reduced minimum-damage range mean spam is far less effective, and they can't be thrown wildly in groups of five as a...

Deathmatching. Using it as a dedicated killing tool, basically. It's a pretty small buff. 50% is a large increase percentage-wise, but its current movement speed is so low that it'll be hard to even notice unless you're using it. If you're worried about long-ranged weapons that'll come to light...

It limits Burst Bomb mains through the increased ink cost and reduced minimum blast radius, but they're a better DMing tool for anyone who can aim them, since the "near miss" hitbox is larger. It'll be less relevant at lower ranks, and Burst maining isn't going to pop up as often, but E3K isn't...

The speed nerf doesn't affect E3K as much as Dynamo, given the lack of need to move frequently. Also, Burst Bomb changes actually improve its ability to 2HKO with a Damage Up-boosted combination of a direct hit and near miss, and to 3HKO with near misses. Expect to see less Customs, certainly...

Carbon Roller is already fairly strong, was buffed, and doesn't lose much from the Burst Bomb changes. Also, many of the weapons nerfed (E3Ks, Dynamos, Tentatek, .96 Gal) were major barriers for its performance. Yeah, I probably jumped the gun on that.

Looks to be an improvement in many ways, but I have some reservations. The .96 and E3K nerfs are welcome, as are the JS, SSP, N-ZAP, and Mine buffs. My main concern, though, is how they're handling a lot of problem weapons with very specific changes. For example, the Tentatek's special loss...

I need help with the Sploosh-O-Matic

You can still get in close on disadvantageous maps if you play your cards right. Swim Speed/Cold Blooded makes it very hard for enemies to keep tabs on you, and even in threatening situations, you can make or close quite a bit of distance if you can lose your opponent for a fraction of a second...

    How do I beat blasters?

Catch them out of their ideal range. If you're up against Rapid/Rapid Pro/Range, get in their faces. For Standard/Luna, take them out from a distance. Worst-case scenario is that you're running a weapon that has the same ideal range (e.g. Squiffer v. Rapid, Sploosh v. Luna, Squelcher v. Rapid...

    New Recon Viability?

I've been running the '89 with a mix of Damage Up/QSJ/Charge Up. It does fairly well even in solo, and the Damage Up both boosts Inkstrike damage and maintains TTK. I'm planning to try out the .52 Deco with Tenacity instead of Charge Up, though that'd need quite a few off-brand rolls to optimize.

Good gear pieces for .52 Gal?

Cold Blooded isn't as necessary as on most other weapons. Since the .52, especially the stock variant, specializes in direct engagements, it's less valuable than than for ambushing weapons. Saver Main should help you a lot, though, especially accounting for the very odd delay on ink recovery...
