There HAVE been variations of FFA territory control (modded King of the Hill in UT, variations of Odd Man Out/Mutant, etc.), but, yes, as with Arc said, it'd need modified maps - less two-way symmetry.

Didn't the Twitter tease at playable Octoling Agents for MP? On a more on-topic note, probably as a spinoff for the 3DS. edit: You know, I'd really enjoy a WarioWare-esque Octoling game. Make it even more bizarre and Squidbilly, too.

Maybe if you only play the single player, which is a straight shooter (and reminds me of tht weird Chameleon series of gmaes for the N64) and doesn't rely on the Turf War gimmick at all. I normally am more of a single-player sort of dude, but the platforming and climbing is kind of dull/annoying...
