These all look like they put their own spin on gameplay with how they are layed out, very excited to try these out in each gamemode.

Personally, I'm taking the approach of try every mode out and see what I like the most rather than predict what I will like. I think all of the ones shown so far look great, making any decision hard enough.

I've already seen a decent amount of players from the MK8 and MKWii communities (myself included) sign up to Squidboards. Many friends I've talked to have also expressed interest in Splatoon.
