Yeah, the Splatfest was a bit of a train wreck but I am mostly blaming that on the influx of new players from the Holidays. At least half of my teammates were lvl <20. By next Splatfest we should be back to the majority of players knowing what they're doing. But matchmaking did seem a bit off...
