    How to Calculate Ability Effects

Well, if you look at the %, you can say "oh, so I'll be % faster than other players" and be correct. Just like how going 90mph is 50% faster than 60mph. That site used to use bum data and a lot of it was incorrect at higher amounts of stacked ability slots. It has since shifted to mirror...

    How to Calculate Ability Effects

Yes, +50% velocity is quite different from -50% time taken, as you would need to double your DU/frame to travel the same distance in half the time. There's no deception here. If you have max Run Speed Up, you will move 50% faster than anyone with none. You will reach the opposing spawn point by...

    How to Calculate Ability Effects

1.25x default speed. Or ~1.05x faster than with 3 main 0 sub. Well no, every sub ability, no matter what it is, counts for exactly 30% of a main. You can mix and match however you want, assuming the available clothing options allow for it, since main/sub doesn't really matter unless you're...

    How to Calculate Ability Effects

Those are the numbers taken directly from the game for "BombThrow_VelZ" Just know that the max is 50% higher than default, so whatever speed/distance it is, it's that much more.

Pretty sure it's a special case, cause an equal amount of Def and Dmg directly cancel out. It's just if they have no Damage Up at all, max Def isn't super amazing. I guess it's to balance out the fact that weapons hard cap to prevent fewer hits to splat or something.

Peeking Techniques & why Saltspray is unsuitable for competitive play.

The inklings hold their weapons somewhat off to the side, which looks especially awkward with Gal weapons since those have shoulder stocks which aren't pressed against one's shoulder. Most small arms could easily be held directly in front of the player model's body without issue, it's just...

It is still possible to have a U-shaped map with an equal number of right corners and left corners on each side. It wouldn't create perfect balance, but it'd be a start. Going top to bottom on Rig is mostly fine. And if there was a way to meet the middle by going around the top without any...

The last player in pinball doesn't get an advantage until the end, so it's the opposite of first-turn advantage (or even disadvantage in some cases), but it's still only one-time as opposed to all throughout. And in pinball, that last player still has to earn a whole ball's worth of points up...

Peeking Techniques & why Saltspray is unsuitable for competitive play.

Yeah, and it's different from this case. If the only time you could abuse peaking on Saltspray was in the first 30 seconds or only from your spawn point, then it wouldn't be a big deal. It could sway games by giving an easier early lead, but if they ever lost that lead the playing field would...

Peeking Techniques & why Saltspray is unsuitable for competitive play.

Well, spawn location is only an advantage at the game start. Yes, it's an advantage where one player might be forced to play defensively at first, which can result in an easy percentage or even a stock lead, but after that there's no further advantage. It's not as if every single stock starts...

Interesting take, and I think that's a fair assessment. There are certainly a lot more ways to gain an advantage over other players in Splatoon, and balance tweaks don't always catch them. It's absurd to expect perfect balance across all players, weapons, and abilities unless every single aspect...

Peeking Techniques & why Saltspray is unsuitable for competitive play.

So you looked through all the images in the first post and you can proudly say that you can bomb someone there without them shooting you first? The whole problem is it's easier to do that from one side than the other. "Just bomb them" requires differing amounts of effort depending on which side...

Peeking Techniques & why Saltspray is unsuitable for competitive play.

True. Except for one side, they can shoot you much easier, faster, and from more locations. This makes it harder for you to use your sub weapons against them compared to doing it from the other side.

So a great team would win on both sides, but if you can only win on the advantageous side, you're trash? What if you repeatedly play against the same team, but nobody ever wins on the "wrong" side? Which team is better?

That's what I've noticed, too, but it may or may not be something like subtracting 10-12 points worth of Swim Speed Up. Stealth Jump does not directly counteract Quick Super Jump, though, since it adds way more time on the ground than in the air. To balance out you need 2 main abilities, but...
