For other shooters or MOBAs, the players usually wear noise cancelling headphones or are in sound proof booths (so they can't hear the crowd/commentary/other team), but if we can't do that we could just put the commentators in another room.
Were tower control and rainmaker supposed to be out before august? Because if so we shouldn't forget about those modes.
For a BO7 we should do something like this (if we decide to go with the set order and not pick/ban:
turf war - splat zones - tower control - rainmaker - random - random -...
Mario kart's rule set really doesn't apply to a shooter at all. A big problem with the mario kart rules is that it would have to exclude all the other game modes (not just splat zones). We have no idea what rain maker and tower control are going to be like in a competitive setting and I think...
I disagree, I would hate to see turf war turned into a team death match. One of the big appeals of splatoon is that it's not focussed on kills. I think that kills should remain a secondary objective, and that making k/d ratio the deciding factor would actually reduce the strategy of turf war, as...
This video also showed really good use of the rollers sub weapon. The sticky bombs could be used really effectively to snuff out chargers or force an enemy out of cover into a shooter or charger team mates line of fire. I think rollers are good when they are playing defensively on close...
I think that this sort of rule set would work really well with splatoon. I think variety of game modes is good because it means that players have have to be good at all game types and stops them from only practising one thing. It's not like in smash where the other modes don't do a good job of...
I think fighting games and smash are sort of an outlier in eSports in that they don't take long to finish a match. If you look at team based shooters most matches last over an hour, for example most CS:GO matches are best of 3 and each map generally lasts about an hour so most tournament matches...
I think in a best of 3 or 5 the charger could be useful as a mix up to surprise the opponent and on certain maps or game modes. It could definitely be good on tower control and on maps with plenty of high ground and open space.
Yea, it seems like a shame to just leave out a game mode if both are viable, and I think more modes are on the way. More variety is better I think, even in competitive play.
I think we should play both. For a bo3 each team can pick a game mode and the last game mode is randomly selected, the team that didn't pick the mode picks the map. Also their will probably be more modes announced in the future.
We could also use a standard sequence of modes for every game, eg...
I think the charger will be really useful in splat zones, especially with good use of their sub and special weapons. There is usually a good sniper platform on most maps and from there they can not only eliminate players, but also cover ground by throwing bombs and push for the capture when they...
