    Global Testfire General Discussion

Really excellent. Roller is definitely my favorite weapon. I think I lost 3 times, played way more than that. My only concern is how bad the rifles were. I mean, they were pretty horrible.

Everyone would have access to those effects. Therefore, there is nothing uncompetitive about them. Indeed, they'd make competition more interesting, like custom moves in smash.

Anyone who can develop skill as quickly as you are imagining is exceptionally talented. For the average person, getting good requires time. If everyone has good gear, it all cancels out and skill becomes the key factor. There is no carrying.

You don't git gud without a consistent time investment either. You have to play the game often to do both. There is no difference.

Another thought I just had. Y'alls reservations about a noob going up against someone with refined gear is invalidated by the matchmaking system. Everyone playing each other will be similarly seasoned, and have similarly seasoned gear.

Yes you can. You can get items and improve them through use. Just like they did. There is no way that perks are going to be good enough to invalidate skill. Work would also prevent you from practicing, and getting better at the game's basics. There's no difference.

They'd have an advantage from being more experienced, gear or otherwise. There is nothing wrong with the situation you just described. Improving perks is just an extension of getting better at the game.

You have an equal opportunity to improve your perks as they do. If you choose not to, it is your fault, not the game's.

How come items are unfair? The game was clearly balanced with gear in mind, the fact that they don't have downsides proves it. No one has done anything to show that clothes are uncompetitive in any way.

I really don't want to give an advantage to people who can just practice for better and better skill over those who just don't have the time, interest, or attention span to do so.

This Isn't Super Smash Bros. 5

I can't imagine anyone was planning to treat Splatoon like smash 5. I agree with @AEM , Tf2 would be a close comparison.

What is your favorite weapon in Splatoon?

I'm not sure which weapon specifically, but I have a general idea of what I'll favor. In Tf2 my favorite characters are Engineer, Medic, and Scout, all very objective based. In Splatoon, I think I'll favor ink coverage over combat, so I don't think I'll like the sniper rifles. The ink roller...
