It is pretty exciting, but it's also a lot of work. Like changing their water, "cleaning up", misting their tank, constantly checking the temperature, helping them shed their old scales.... things like that. But I feel like snakes are the right pet for me, since I'm allergic to most pet hair and snakes don't have any hair to trigger my sinuses.
(They're also very cute and intelligent animals! Mine probably thinks it's a dog, judging by the way it's constantly giving me kisses and wanting tons of attention!)
They actually are quite playful. You can actually get special little contraptions for the terrarium that makes sounds when the snake slithers over it. I might actually get one someday, but until then she seems pretty happy playing with her reflection. XD
Yeah, occasionally when I'm handling her I'll bring her to the bathroom mirror and let her play with her reflection. She's surprisingly calm about her reflection, she gets more curious than defensive about seeing a "snake" that looks exactly like her and copies her exact movements.
Yep. Her name is Werther. I named her after the caramel candy due to the golden caramel-like shine her scales give off when she's under her terrarium light.
I have a GIF of it, but on this device I can't copy image URL's do I'll have to show you it later.
