I just hope private matches on Splatoon are a thing for sure, otherwise tournaments might not work out...

Would make tourneys online only which is not good as there would be needed a station for confirmation in everyplace . Disconnections cannot be verified as connection error, power outage, intended disconnection, rage quit or server error.

Indeed! Let's hope Nintendo cover some very important information in the Direct next week. I really hope the netcode is good, matches are enabled and even a tournament mode would be useful.

Yes most games make specific user lobbies or private matches. In fact Smash does that. go to friends section and host a room then invite friends. If it works for Smash it should work for Splatoon. The matching service I believe is more sophisticated on console than 3ds so Splatoon being console only leaves little worries to expect.

That's what I'm hoping too. Hopefully by trying to invite friends, it will bring up your friends list and you can invite multiple people before closing it. I hate it when games make you slowly invite them one at a time.

But I certainly do want the matching service to be more sophisticated. It doesn't need to be dumbed down to work on 3DS as well, so I've got my fingers crossed. :P

Yes when sending smash replays the list comes around and you select who to send. Maybe that could be the option too like you say to invite many people at once.

That actually brings up another thing. I wonder if we'll be able to save replays of Splatoon matches? They seem to have a fixed time limit and you apparently can't edit that, so if you can save and share replays that'd be awesome. I'd really love it if you could put them onto an SD card and put them on your computer as well. I'd love to upload matches that way.

Idk how Nintendo handles it but I know call of duty let you save entire game matches with online players custom weapons an all. idk about battlefield but I believe it can too. That be wonderful thou. I could see my Squads online if they are uploadable to say youtube as Smash data for that was found data mining.

I remember Halo letting you do that too, and I always wanted it for other games. TF2 kind of let you do it. You could save replays of certain lives but it wasn't as good as other games.

That would be good! I really hope you can save matches and edit them. At the very least, I would like to be able to upload straight to YouTube in a similar fashion to MK8. Would be good for highlight reels.
