Splatoon 1 did introduce us the N-Zap and all its variants based on real Nintendo products. Gears such as the Black Pipe Tee, White Line Tee (based on the Pulse Line Cartridges, which are Famicom games) and the Squidvader Cap are also tributes to Retro gaming (same for 8-bit Easter Eggs).

So... why not going all the way and make some Abilities based on the old Arcade glory? I got three ideas for Special Skills based on Arcade-style games!

Ability n. 1: Continue Quarter

Just when you were covering the most Turf and splatting down all those rivals, a Charger splats you out of nowhere, ruining all your nice progress... until you get right back up with the Continue Quarter! No Game is Over yet, as long as you got your pockets full of Quarters!

Description: If you get enough Ink points (probably a lot of them), you get an Extra Chance! You can only get one at the time.

How it works? If a foe splats you, press the R button to use your Extra Chance! The Extra Chance allows you to get back in the map, without returning to the Spawn Point! You have at least 2 seconds to decide where to spawn (it can only be close to where you were first splatted). You return with friendly ink under your feet, for a nice little start!

Ability n. 2: Point Eater

Sure all this running and fighting is fun and all... but then, sometimes you just want to chill out and eat some quick snacks. For those who don't mind eating during a focused war, they should try out the Point Eater menu: you will become hungry for the delicious food you see on the map! Don't be greedy, though: share the gained food with your hungry friends!

Description: Eat the food you find on the map to get Points for your Special! It doesn't add any Score for Turf War, but it adds points for Continue Quarter and also the Experience Points you will get at the end of a match! Here is a list of the food you will find:

French Fries: The most common food you can find, it gives you the least amount of Points.
Fishburger: Appears a bit rarely, but it gives you a nice amount of Points!
Pizza: Very rare to find, but it gives you so many Points, it's almost guaranteed you will get the Special ready from it!

How it works? Once in a while, a type of food appears on a random point of the map (probably somewhere on the middle and it's surrounded by a light of the same color as your ink): everyone can see the food, but only you can get it! Foes will probably be around the food for an ambush, so be careful!

Special: If there are other players with the Point Eater ability, you will share your gained points with those team members! Half if there are 2 players with this skill, 1/3 if there are 3 and 1/4 if there are 4!

Ability n. 3: Power-up Juice

You keep breathing loudly, you keep drenching your eyes from the sweat that falls on them... you are about to melt! For the Squids who are scared of becoming dry, they got to include the Power-up Juice Skill in their arsenal: a quick sip and you will get back fresher than ever! Actually, you will be even fresher than before! With so much freshness, it wouldn't be fair to leave your friends in the salt... be a fresh friend and give them a nice glass of juice too!

Description: Drink juice you find on the map to get a Skill Boost which will last for a short period of time! If you or someone in your team have Point Eater, there will still be a place where the food or the drink can will appear! Here is a list of the drinks you will find:

Orange Passion: Your general Movement (Running, Swimming...) will be much better for a while!
Blue Deep: Your Defense against all type of attacks is greatly increased for a while!
Green Vitality: Ink efficiency and Recovery are very good for a while!

How it works? Once in a while, a type of drink appears on a random point of the map (probably somewhere on the middle and it's surrounded by a light of the same color as your ink): everyone can see the drink, but only you can get it! Foes will probably be around the drink for an ambush, so be careful!

Special: If there are other players with the Power-Up Juice ability, you will share your gained boost with those team members! Half if there are 2 players with this skill, 1/3 if there are 3 and 1/4 if there are 4!

Get all those three Skills together... you will play Arcade Splatoon 2! I would advice you to use the N-Zap and the Old-School Gears to really get back in the past and experience the real Retro Experience!
