I like this weapon in a vacuum. The wall really helps with staying alive and pushing up against weapons that outrange it. (E-Liter, Z+F charger, etc.)
While the special, the reefslider isn't ideal for it, there is one, and only one bit of theoretical synergy with the sub that I've found. In the hypothetical scenario where using the special from higher ground is the best option, throwing a wall before popping special grants some protection, or can cut off an escape route. As for how the wall could provide protection, a possible mix-up would be to explode the reefslider before or after passing through the wall, depending on which side your opponent runs to.
In a competitive environment, this weapon is easily outclassed and outmatched by a lot that outrange it. But in a mid-level soloqueue environment, in zones and turf in particular, I feel that this weapon can shine, and be more than just a missile spam paint support.
In regards to the main weapon itself, I think that it should have the same shot charge mechanic that squiffer does, in that it charges at the same speed in the air and on the ground, possibly in exchange for having it's strafing speed reduced by a small margin.
