As someone who started this series in Splatoon 2 (and a lot younger) I get a little sad watching Splatoon 1 videos and seeing the internet's nostalgia for it knowing I wasn't there lol
dont worry about it too much, splatoon 1 is nice as a way to understand our roots and some of the maps were really cool (just as many were worse than anything we have in s3 but their hits were way better too), but honestly the game is incredibly unpolished, unbalanced, and a lot of the love it gets now is based in nostalgia.
Yeah I feel the same way, specially since I did know about Splatoon and constantly watched videos about it because I couldn't play, I didn't have a Wii U so I just watched other people play, I am still quite sad I missed out on it, but I am happy to be able to play a Splatoon game now (even if it's not the first game)
Don't feel too bad. Not playing a game with ink armor or stingray isn't the worst thing to happen to a person lol
But yeah OP I feel it, I played a few rounds of 1 on my roommates WiiU but otherwise I missed out on S1. It wasn't until 2 that I got into the series. 1's maps always looked so compartmentalized in a way that 2 and 3 (especially 3) just didn't.
No, but I feel melancholic for missing Splatoon 2. Played plenty of Splatoon 1, but I only got about 80 hours of Splatoon 2 in because I thought I'd gotten into the game too late (late 2018 (yes, I know, this was an uninformed opinion)).
i feel sad watching back gameplay of splatoon 1 because i grew up with the game and miss those times; splatoon 2 and 3 have both shown they just aren't ever going back to S1's direction and soon its online is gonna kick the bucket too. both splatoon 2 and 3 feel like they've become too serious in all of their modes and mode designs
