Anyone else frustrated with the 1980's collision detection?

Nothing bugs me more than the ridiculously crappy collision detection contained within this brilliant game. It's not just bad. It's ridiculous.
A hugely fun game almost ruined by ZX Spectrum style collision detection. Iv'e not seen glaring oversights like this from a title that's a top Nintendo title before.
Iv'e played to level 50 and B+, have over 1,000,000 banked so i'm not making this observation after just a few mins play.

Opinions?

Edit: Should probably add that i mean close range player vs player detection. (when you get killed much later than the hit or killed by no hit at all)

thread is misleading. you're talking about latency.

regarding collision detection, yes, bumping into allies is very annoying.

regarding latency, someone not dying when you shoot them is a lot more frustrating than getting killed unexpectedly, so I can understand why the game handles this on the shooter's side rather than the shootee's. latency is mostly out of the game's control; we need a better internet infrastructure.

O.K so the network is to blame then. I'm sorry but iv'e played multi-player games online since 1999 and i have never experienced this problem to this degree. It's really not acceptable. I get that there are people that are protective to the title but i really don't believe it's something we should accept in 2015. I'm not really happy with just sitting back and saying it's poor infrastructure.

It's a really ****ty excuse.

Mate, dial it back just a bit.

Them being right isn't something to get upset about.
