I was just wondering what the main best type of charger is. I usually main the New Squiffer but I was wondering if I should find a different charger with something like Splashdown or Tenta-Missiles with a decent sub.

This may be set to change with balance patches but it's currently the Snipewriter. Tacticooler is the best special in the game right now and Snipewriter 5H has it while also being very good at painting the floor. The drawback of it not one-shotting isn't a big deal because it still two-shots incredibly fast, is far more mobile than many other Chargers, and has higher range than a majority of them, leading to it having a strong matchup against almost every other long-ranged weapon in the game. The 5B kit is good too. Not much reason to run that one in a competitive setting because the 5H kit is better but if you find it more fun then it's totally usable.

Worth noting that the E-Liter without the scope has consistently had a very good history as well, formerly being one of the absolute best weapons in the game. It's still strong enough to contend with Snipewriter despite the Snipewriter itself having been THE best weapon in the game for a huge chunk of Splatoon 3's lifespan. If you wanted to main that one then I wouldn't blame you at all since it's still incredibly strong. Either kit would probably be fine.

since this was put in splat 2 gen, vanilla goo tuber has splashdown, but the main weapon's often seen as squiffer w/ extra steps.

Bamboozler has missiles, which is strong, but I dunno how much curling bomb helps if you can make a trail with a 20-frame charge.

If you're playing splat 3, tri-splashdown is tied with missiles and screen for only 5 kits. vanilla goo tuber was once used to farm missiles in tournament play, but the new version of the special isn't game-breaking.

For Splatoon 2, the sniper in my squad always enjoyed the Squiffer as it was pretty simple to use. Aside from that, he also liked playing the Firefin Splatterscope, which has a pretty good special for Turf War and Splat Zones.

Try a few Chargers and see which one you enjoy the most! While some weapons may have better competitive results than others, what's most important is that the weapon feels right to you!

My only problem with the ones with scopes is because I don't like the way the camera moves with them.

Chargers in splatoon 2 are a bit weird, the best one by far is Bamboo mk1. Mk1 might actually be the best non shooter weapon in the game other than Mk1.
Firefin and Vliter are also solid but suffer from armor being omnipresent in every match.

Fresh Squiffer is very fun I know some people were trying it out near the end of the game. MK2 is also a hilariously fun weapon since it has 160 burst rush which is just really spamable and very synergistic with the bamboo main.

Chargers are somewhat weak in 2 overall. But definitely a bit above the pack compared to rollers, blasters, brellas.
