Lost 5 times in a row because I'm playing against competitive players, apparently.

I'm not sure how that works because their level just represents how long they have played, more experience.

As for lag, I play with Japanese most of the time, but have an EU version. Forcing me to play splatfest with Europeans. I find the server gives me seldom issues.

I can understand it just being a representation, but even if they have more time invested, I feel like that's a bit of a detriment for lower ranked players as well.

I don't think turf wars are a good indicator, you should just play ranked games. The modes are better, competitive and well balanced. Dont care about rank and in time you will place at your true level.

Honestly you shouldn't expect to win 4 times in a row in turf. In turf it's a lot harder for one person to pull a team, so it's fair to say you should only win roughly half. The chance of winning 4 in a row is like 6%.
If you care that much about winning, you should probably be playing ranked. Each individual player means more to the team and there's at least an effort to match you with players of a similar rank.

Maybe it's my imagination, but I feel like turf wars became more competitive after the updated level cap. Players seem to bring their A-game because they want to level up more, I am the same way admittedly. Before the update, playing turf war was just for fun, I could care less if I won, or lost. Now, losing too much makes me a little annoyed.

I'm sure you will get back into the groove soon. I remember being away from Splatoon for about two weeks playing Metal Gear Solid V, and it took some time to get reoriented when I got back.

I can relate. I finally was able to pick up the game three months after it came out, and it took some time to get back in the fell of the game since everyone I played against in turf war had two months of experience. My first Splatfest was pretty bad. The second one turned out better.

I'm not too into winning, but it can get pretty discouraging when you're doing as well as you can and your efforts feel pointless. I'm probably just still incredibly rusty.

I can relate to that as well.
Turf War meta seems to have drastically changed, ever since they gave us the increased level caps

I do find it noteworthy, that I used to have an easier time, but as soon at the increased level caps were there, it became almost impossible to win.
Might just be me though.

Yeah, it's much more difficult. But when I do Ranked, I feel like I was playing Splatfest for the winning side. Was feeling too easy.

Tell me about it. I didn't play for a flaming week one time and dropped from an S rank to an A- in a matter of a few matches
