and smollusk is their manager/backup idol

katy makes the comedic jokes while sugata makes the one-two punch **** you remarks.
katy is more shibuya kei while sugata is more DnB in music terms.

sugata actually looks less like a waifu and more like japanese dj from fukuoka in the mid 1980s who formed a band who would make a mascot which would have its own game on the playstation 1

in japanese sugata has a fukuoka dialect making sentences like
nani o shi teiru no?, into nan ba shiyo tto?

yeah they mostly just look like octolings with a different ink color. It is a really nice color though. I like the subtle bits of purple

update: katy and sugata have been transformed into shirley and marcie. sugata is just out of place for an idol name. has no pun other than the word sugar. katy has no pun whatsoever.

shirley is derived from "shisso suru ara manbo" the japanese name for panicking alla mambo.
marcie is.. a pinging marciale.
