Console Wide Friend Chat System

How do you guys feel about a console-wide friend chat system? I know that this debate is being beaten into the floor, but I feel that the more serious gamers deserve something. Game-side voice chat might not be an option at this point, but what about console-side voice chat? Think Xbox-live parties, which were on Xbox 360, last console generation. I don't know if this would be hard to implement at this point, but I do think that it's long overdue and Nintendo is leaving its gamers in the stone age.

I would love to start a hashtag on twitter or something, like that end region locking movement, to get this changed.

Considering you can't make any premade teams yet, not sure that would work as you can get tossed on different teams as your friends even when you join their game.

That's just for now, as far as we know. Also, this would apply to the whole console and every game.

Yea, it would be nice to actually have a chat system similar to the PS4 or XB1, but from what I can see, Nintendo is still taking baby steps to this whole online thing.

Also, have you ever tried the Wii U mic in the controller? Not the most pleasant sound.

I haven't heard it, but as far as I know, you can use a third party mic, and it's far better than no voice chat at all.

Dunno about that... I've used it in Smash Bros and Mario Kart. It sounds like your voice, the devil, and all the static in the world got together for a party and smoked 10 packs of cigarettes.

Yeah. I just tried it on smash the other day, and I could not hear the other person at all. All I heard was static.
