Do you think we will ever get 3rd kits? (Question)

I've been thinking about this for a while but with the way Nintendo is handling kit updates it may seem we will never get 3rd kits. Maybe somewhere in Chill Season 2024? As there are only 12 kits left in the game that need to be added. But if Nintendo just goes about with just adding 6 kits for Fresh Season and the remaining 6 in Sizzle Season. Then we might only see Sheldon's Picks for Drizzle Season and then Chill Season there might be like a Kensa thing where they just add a bunch of random weapon kits. Another thing I wanted to mention is that we still have new weapons to look forward to that will also need a 2nd kit which would completely throw off the kit distribution that happens with each season. So who knows maybe I'm entirely wrong about how they're gonna map out the kit distribution and it takes I was kinda hoping Splatoon 3 would give the chance for all weapons to have 3rd kits especially to weapons that really deserve it (Dapples, Tetras, Undercover, and Pro) but I guess not. It is weird how Nintendo handles kits in Splatoon 3 and I really just hope get to see some previously bad kits get worked into good kits so that main weapon can see some use.

I think it'll be like the previous 2 games where some weapons get 3rd kits but not all of them. It looks like the 2nd kits will be done after the planned 8 seasons, and they'll probably announce more after that, which is where we would get the 3rd kits. I just can't see them not bringing back the copper aerospray, for example, when all 3 aerosprays appeared in both of the previous games.

It's still sad that I have to wait over a year and a half for a second liter kit though. And it's never had a third

yeah i think we aren't going to get Any 3rd kits before the currently planned end of content updates. the seasons are currently paced in a way that would perfectly align for everything (including new dualies/brella/splatana/stringer) to get exactly 2 kits in the next 2 seasons. really hoping we do get content extension because otherwise i just don't think it's happening.

It's definitely likely imo. Especially with side order actually releasing in february, that'll free up devs from that to be able to actually work on the game, make models for 3rd kits, etc.

I’m going to hazard a guess that there might be room for some limited edition 3rd kits. I’m hoping we get some Kensa kits with Side Order… wishful thinking tho

This is copium, but, I’m hoping Nintendo is planing a big drop of kits. I know this will probably never happen, but with the amount of kits being added feels like they have something planed, but then again after all the negative feedback the community has about the decreasingly amount of kits I feel like they would have put out more kits. But I do think we may get some 3rd kits, most likely in the extended content.

But what I do see is a ray of hope in quality of kits, I believe the general quality of kits has increased, but the quantity has suffered. The low amount of patch changes and kits are, what I think, a sign that Nintendo wants to create stronger weapons, but at the same time afraid of making something too strong and creating another double machine & splash Meta.

I doubt it cause they may want to start pushing the developers over to working on games for the next console.

If the switch 2 comes out this year I imagine it'd be a Splatoon 4 if anything, although one can only hope.

My question is how are they gonna deal with 3rd kits in tableturf?
if you didn't know 2nd kits in tableturf are just mirrored versions on the vanilla kit (with a few exceptions like wiper)
so would the 3rd kit cards just be reskins?
or is this evidence that 3rd kits won't happen you gotta wonder

worth saying actually i DO think content extension will happen. i think the most likely course of action is that the team that's currently working on side order will move on to developing splatoon 4 immediately, and the smaller team that's been working on seasonal updates already will be able to keep at it for longer. which may mean 3rd kits would trickle in pretty slowly, but it's better than nothing, and it feels realistic enough to me to be hopeful for it

i'm not super familiar with tableturf but maybe they could move around the positioning of the special charge block?

reading everyone's replies has been very fun and has allowed me to kinda end the debate in my head about 3rd kits lol, while i do hope nintendo does add them there still is that chance that they just stop at 2nd kits or that they only add sheldon's picks (which has been a staple in every game) but talking about 3rd kits really does get me excited for what nintendo has in store for us especially with side order right around the corner i do feel like they can really give their 100% in the updates now but who knows? anything could happen lmao but i just wanna thank everyone for the amazing comments!!

we'll get 3rd kits. probably in the form of last minute mass kit drops. they're taking their sweet time with the kits, but i doubt that they think they can get away with not giving us 3rd kits at least on weapons that got them in the last game. if your weapon has had a third kit in a previous splatoon title, i think you'll get one again. good luck if you havent, though.

it is honestly this sole fact that makes me so hopeful that we could finally get a 3rd kit for every weapon. if any game were to do it it would be this one

I want to say 'yes', only because we just got two new specials, and it'd be really weird to add them now when they'll probably get put on so few weapons (unless they just give them to nearly every new kit going forward). That being said, I don't think the chance of every weapon getting a 3rd kit is likely with the rate Nintendo has been going, even if they keep going to Sizzle Season 2025, unless they really increase the amount of kits they come out with.
