I just lost a game that was 8 B+ players playing and I got -12 points instead of -10. What gives?

You did really bad or lost quickly? I think if its even teams you can lose anywhere between 10-12, unless its a close game in which you may only lose 8. If the other team grade average is higher than yours you may only lose 6. If you lose members and put up a decent fight you lose 1. This is just my guesses though..

Pretty sure the way you lose doesn't matter. As far as i know, it's based on rank + points. So if one team is all B+ 10 and the enemy all B+ 90, this can happen.

It's based on the average rank of each team. If one team has a higher average then once it hits a certain threshold the game engine causes weighted wins and losses for distributing points much like in Mario Kart 8 when racing against lower or higher VR players. If your team is statistically disadvantaged from lower average rank you will win more points and lose less than if the opposite occurred.
