Importance of the Amiibo Suit

So...hi.
I've noticed that if you look on the shelf in the room you see when you first start up Splatoon that the Amiibo Power Suit as an action figure/plushe is on it. Does this mean that this suit has some sort of cultural importance? Is it a model of modern day army wear, or is it the look of some sort of fictional character in media? Opinions below!

It would be like me having an action figure of Superman or Iron Man. It's just some action figure for some comic, cartoon, or movie.
