Inkopolis Plaza - Any clues about references?

Previous Inkopolis had many Tokyo-ish references like Shibuya's cross and Tokyo Tower/Skytree. But Inkopolis Plaza, I can't relate well the references.
The vending machines are the new models I saw in Tokyo this year, also Tower Records yellow panel on the left side. Is it still related to Japan? I saw on inkpedia that this time is more on Times Square but I can't relate well because I've never been there.

Do you know about those references? I'm curious! :)

I definitely thought of Times Square when I saw inkopolis square the first time, so it wouldn't surprise me. Especially because of all the big signs and the large screen at the front of deka(?) tower (the lobby building)
