Join the biggest Splatoon project of 2018!

Hi there!

I am Phoenix, founding member and former captain of the competitive Splatoon team Horizon and now head of the new Horizon Infinite project. If you are reading this text, you might have seen our poster and want to know more about what Horizon Infinite is.

I have been a Splatoon player since the release of Splatoon 1, winner of the local gamescom 2016 Splatoon tournament, admin and co-creator of a 400+ members Splatoon Discord server and, for almost two years, leader of Horizon. Now, we are looking for new members, yet not for competitive Splatoon playing, but to create new, massive community projects. To get started, let me give you some background information first:

You might remember our team for last year's release of the – to this day still – most detailed and professional Splatoon 2 callout map graphics worldwide, which have received thousands of views and are still among the top results on Google. We aimed to make these maps as perfect as they can be, by using as coherent terms for different positions as possible and using these uniformly over all maps. Graphically, we finickily redrew every boundary by hand, measured precise positions for the tower path and rainmaker lines (the latter ones not yet released) and even precisely mapped the height levels gradually. You can see these maps on our Discord server.

Horizon has always been involved in more than just the competitive side and creating callout maps. Besides these projects, we put a lot of effort into creating a big, community-oriented Splatoon Discord server, the Horizon Splatoon Hub. From the very beginning, we didn't want to give the community just any server – we wanted to give them the best. So we have spent countless hours, structuring and optimizing the Hub by giving it as much content as possible, while balancing to not overload it with loads of unused features. Yet, we have countless ideas we still want to implement.

Horizon always aimed to be a place for the whole Splatoon community and to also provide lots of content by applying highest quality standards to our projects. In order to reach this dream, we recently took a brave new step. We evolved, from the competitive team Horizon to the multi-project organization Horizon Infinite, led by two of the most experienced Horizon members. We decided on this step to fully dedicate ourselves to the interests of the Splatoon community and to create and provide lots and lots of new content for all of you. This does not only mean a community-oriented Discord server and callout maps, no, we have several other projects planned in order to become the one supreme source of high-quality content and information in the whole Splatoon scene. We want to reach for the top.

And for the accomplishment of precisely this goal, we are now recruiting.

I want to point out that Horizon Infinite is not a squad – it is a crew, an organization. It is planned to become a group of talented Splatoon fans from all over the world that want to help the community. We want to partner up with artists, creators, YouTubers and devoted community members to create a massively known brand in the Splatoon scene. We want to become a big name in the entire, worldwide community. The biggest.

We are currently looking for people with skills in one or ideally multiple of the following categories:
- Art (Drawing artwork and personalized images, to be used for our server, events, tournament prizes and promotional material)
- Marketing (Managing social media accounts and general public presentation)
- Server Management (General server management, planning and optimization, moderation, designing and planning server events)
- Map Design (Creating future callout maps with Adobe Illustrator (basic experience necessary, we will explain the special knowledge for the maps to you))
- Event Organization (Organizing and moderating tournaments, as well as other public events on multiple platforms)
- YouTube (Creating YouTube videos like, e.g., strategy guides, stage showcases etc. Experienced YouTuber preferred)
- Programming (Developing scripts, tools and/or Discord bots)
- Web Design (Creating a Horizon Infinite web platform)

Some of our planned projects include:
- Further developing our Discord server to be a central meeting point for thousands of Splatoon players
- Designing and publishing the best set of Splatoon 2 callout maps in the entire world
- Organizing tournaments and possibly leagues
- Holding Splatoon giveaways
- Hosting special community events
- Partnering up with YouTubers to create multimedial Splatoon content

These are some of our dreams. But we won't be able to reach them alone, we need your help.

I repeat, we are searching for creators, not competitive players, although being in a competitive team is in no way a problem – it may even be helpful. We are looking for creative people that can help bringing these projects to life and design their own.

But what would you gain by becoming a member of Horizon Infinite's staff? What can we offer you?
By becoming a member of the Horizon Infinite staff, you can help moderating and developing the server, organize your own project ideas, work on graphics design for our widely known callout maps or craft artwork for our events. You will have the chance of working together with passionate and creative people from the community, developing high-quality content for the scene. You can publish and share your own works and make them known in the whole community, or even further. You will frequently get to socialize with lots of new people and make a multitude of new contacts. You can improve your skills and probably learn even some completely new tricks. And last but not least, you will get to learn A LOT about team-working, quality management and project organization (I think not many other Splatoon groups apply project management tools and strategies ^^).

Or in short: You have the chance to develop incredible knowledge and skill sets that are helpful even outside the Splatoon scene and we want to give you the chance to use these abilities to make not only Horizon Infinite, but also your own name, known broadly. And most importantly: You would know that you have contributed great content to the Splatoon scene and helped to make many players happy!

So, if you interested in working together with creative people from the community in a crew of 4-8 people, shaping what is planned to become the biggest Splatoon project of 2018, this is it! It is a massive adventure. This is supposed to become something truly big, until one day, the Horizon Splatoon Hub is the biggest Splatoon meeting place in the community!

As you can see, we are very passionate and plan to make this a seriously big project. Don't get intimidated to apply, however, even if you are underage or only just developing your skills. We will be happy about every application, so if you have the passion and motivation to become part of a family that unites the Splatoon community, take this chance and apply! We want to make it possible for you to be an active and important part of the crew that creates and develops Horizon Infinite together with us, by adding your own skills and ideas to it. This is planned to become a huge, amazing project. It is your chance to join an international organization that everybody in the Splatoon community will know, like Inkipedia and Squidboards. No, it's your chance to be an active member leading the way together with friends in that organization. Let's do it!
