So, over the past few days, I’ve been cooking with some of the hammer weapons bc of buff. I tried out some wiper, mini Splatling. But my favorite, out of all of them, is L-3 Nozzlenose D. It’s a fun, fast paced weapon, with a slayer type focus. And since I made my recent post, I’ve honestly loved this even more
So here’s my deep dive into the L-3 Nozzlenose D, or L-3 D

The Basics:

This is a middleweight weapon. Allowing it to do very slayer type actions. And this means that it can be decent by itself. It does 31 damage doing 3 shots per burst. With a 3.3% ink consumption rate per burst. This is incredibly good for the weapon. And with its sub allows you not worry about running out of ink. (Very useful for slayers) There is a 15.5 damage minimum for each pellet fyi. And it loses damage at about 8 frames for being in the ait, at around 0.48 damage per frame until the minimum. There is a 8 frame delay between bursts, and a 4 frame difference when firing in 1 burst. So in total from the start of your 1st burst it will take 20 frames to start another burst. It takes 3 frames to start firing from humanoid form, and 12 from squid form. Again pretty decent. Though there is a problem. It has a 25 frame delay after firing before refilling ink, but luckily it uses little ink! So that is pretty minimized. There is at first a 1% chance to hit the outer part of the crosshair rectangle. With increasing for +1% for each shot. Which isn’t that bad for how long out of the ground (not that long) The jump rng is around 40% to hit the outermost hitbox possible. Accuracy recovers decently without even being in squid form. Which is very nice. And adds on to the idea that it has near perfect accuracy on its first burst. The range is basically 13.52 units. Which is pretty good, around Splattershot/splash. With a points per special of 200. So now that we have that done we can focus on the cooler less statistical things.

The Kit:

It has burst bomb, and ultra stamp. First of all, burst bomb is kinda crazy with this. And with the stamp buff, this kit goes hard, we’ve seen this kit work with mini, and it works with this as well. Which is really nice. I mean the hammer buff actually is wild.

Here’s some strategy with the kit.

Burst bomb works really well with this weapon, doing 35 damage on most hits. And 60 on good ones. With its 45% ink consumption rate with no ink saver. This allows you to do 2-3 shots with the weapon and finish it off with a burst bomb incredibly consistently. (This weapon gets so many assists) My most common combo is 3 shots then an indirect burst bomb. Which quickly kills, gives you space to leave, and has decent painting. Ultra stamp is an interesting part of this weapon. Ultra stamps most powerful part is its throw, especially since the patch. So if the opponent is out of your normal range, and you have a good push you can make, this will really help. It can kill 2 people at once pretty consistently. And when your opponent spawns in, you can kill them with there armor pretty consistently since the buff & 220 damage. My most common use of stamp is when I’m kinda trapped and getting closed in on by short range weapons, I stamp the close ones, and throw it for the back line kills. Sometimes I don’t do the short lines since they aren’t there. But still it can do great damage for its incredibly AOE with buff. (My guess is the radius will get slightly needed in 9.4.0 but idk) Now time for actual strategy

Strategy / Playstyle:

So being a slayer weapon, you will want to be on the frontlines, the entire duration of the game. And this weapon allows good flanking. With its incredibly good kill time with the combo. It will easily be able to stop enemy’s from leaving too far from spawn. And hammer throw now can pretty consistently kill with enemy’s from spawn. Even with armor. So that allows for easy kills. My advice is to start the game by trying to clear out the very front lines on the enemy team. Then go try to flank the back/mid lines that they have. And then work off of that. This will allow for great control over the map. And overall very useful for your team. If you die, try to deal with the opponents push, and then repeat the flanking. This is not a sharking weapon. Even with its quick kill time, the 15 frame difference between starting to shoot from squid form & actually firing allows the enemy to kill you in time. So it can’t really shark. But when fighting, you can kill quickly. Remember that this is not a 1-shot like H-3. And it has less range, so if you were a H-3 Main, then this is a little different. But that’s all I really have for the strategy, since I’ve only been playing this for like 3 days (since hammer buff was announced, not released) So finally, I’ll do some gear.

The Builds:

First of all, the sendou.ink builds do work. But I prefer a little different. So here is that:

I really appreciate special charge up on this weapon, works really well with it. And I think it needs a little more then Sendou.ink says it does, stealth jump, and comeback are self explanatory since it’s a frontline. And special power up, is just nice for the stamp, it really helps the weapon out for stamping and throwing. Run speed it kinda required for a weapon that can’t really shark. And a little bit of swim speed. And obviously some quick super jump.

Well, that’s all I got to say, thanks for reading I guess. I really love this weapon, and I think it has decent potential, but yea, cya for another random deep dive.

Had a good time reading over this thread.
I'm not particularly interested in L-3 but it's always nice seeing threads like these where users go into more depth about the weapons they like.
I am a bit surprised you don't use special saver but I guess the extra SCU from CB being active should be more than enough to help you get your special quickly on respawn.
I would recommend trying it anyway though if you haven't already.

And yeah, I can try that out

Really cool to see someone here enjoying this weapon. I have played this nozzlenose much more than the others, the kit is just very flexible and I feel like it only gets better the more you master the weapon itself, not to mention the white and light blue scheme is a nice touch

I literally agree with everything you just said. It has such a flexible weapon idea. It can be used as a support frontline. Because of the idea of decent range & stamp has an amazing throw. It can be a full on slayer. I already have multiple quad clips from flanking, just because of 2 kills from burst combo, then 1 stamp throw, and bc of the time it takes to use stamp (the time it takes to throw) I got another burst combo off. Best moment(s) of my life

oh, and I love the color scheme, some of my favorites in the game (L-3 D and H-3 D, which I’ll probably also make a post about. I just really love nozzlenoses)
