Ninja squid allows you to swim at 90% of your base speed. This generally allows you to stealth at about 65% (the maximum is 70% with perfect tilting, but you lose a little speed by stuttering for squidtrotting). So, ninja squid is usually about 38.5% faster.

 

I feel like there's like 300 techs called Squid Trotting at this point.

The best use for Ninja Squid (IMO) would be for new players who aren't used to the game's controls yet.
