Hi everyone, I'm really sorry if this has been touched on before, but I couldn't find it on the boards. This will also be my first post here. I'll try to be as informative as I can.

Okay, so last night Nintendo had updated Splatoon with a new patch. You can find the patch notes here for further details on what was added, or fixed. There were a lot of good fixes, and I love the new addition of Tower Control, although, I still think I'll play more of Splat Zone, as it seems like Tower Control will require a bit more of team communication / coordination, in which we can not do to the lack of voice chat, and the ability to play with our friends in Ranked Battles. I wanted to post this here to see how everyone else feels what I'm going to post as well. I really want the game to continue to thrive, so that it doesn't become stale, and over frustrating to eventually continue playing.

First off, I have not been able to test this yet, so I hope someone can chime in on this one. I hope they didn't nerf the Kraken too much. The Roller is seriously the only class I find fun to use and I'm incredibly good with it, and before anyone says the Kraken is OP, I know it is, good. It becomes frustrating playing on ranked matches having to carry your entire team 90-100% of the time. You need something like the Kraken to at least give you the ability to have a fighting chance to wipe out a few opponents to shift momentum in your favor. I did find myself being knocked back quite a bit pre-patch, anyhow, so hopefully it's not that significant of a change.

It doesn't look like the Ink Strike changed much from footage I've seen of post-patch updates, it's not all that good IMO anyway. By the way, feel free to watch the above video providing some insight to the new patch. All it manages to do is neutralize the zone in Splat Zones, and cover up a little bit of the map in Turf Wars. I actually don't use it that much on Turf Wars, especially, on smaller maps when it takes so long to use, and I could just use that time to ink up the ground faster with my Ink Brush, or other weapon, and prevent myself from being ambushed / killed.

On another note, I'm sure I won't notice much of a changes with the abilities, as I really didn't notice their effect at all when even using them anyway, I guess due to the high paced gameplay. Overall, I'm glad Nintendo is trying to keep up with the game with patches, and hopefully continue to do so, but there's still so much to improve.

I have a laundry list of things that need to be done in the game in order to make it a long lasting online experience, and I'm sure majority of the players can agree with me. Here they are:
- Add all of the Ranked game types as Regular battles as well so we can play differenet game types with our friends OR
- Add the ability to play Ranked with your friends
• This is a must. I can at least Team Speak with my friends to communicate commands and give info. Why isn't this a thing?
- Add more game types such as "Capture the Zapfish (Flag)," Team Splat Match, or Multi-team battles (2v2v2v2)
- I don't know if this can be fixed, but fix the server / latency lag for foreign players (Japanese players)
• In my experience, I've been killed so many times from the grave or shot through the ground and walls by Japanese players it becomes very frustrating especially in Ranked... and half of the room is usually Japanese players. Also, I can't count how many times where I've shot a Japanese, or foreign, player with what should have killed him yet they survive and kill me instead. I actually have a very good video on my channel to prove how bad this can be at times. The video is titled "Worst. Lag. Ever."
- Buff and Nerf weapons where it is needed!
• This is an important one, I don't know, again, whether it is due to lag, but I'm always getting killed by weapons I know for fact I shouldn't be getting killed with from either the range the opponent is shooting me at or the amount of shots they hit me with. I'm not experienced with every weapon, but I sure as hell know the Splat-o-matic is at least a 3-4 shot kill and I can't tell how many times I died from it from 1-2 shots. Do I count? Well, yes, I record most of my play time, and while re-watching, I count how many times I am shot (lol).
Furthermore, from my experience, the Ink Brush needs to be buffed. It has disgraceful range, I would have to say the absolute worst in the game. When I'm usually it, I cover up a ridiculous amount of ground, but I usually am forced to run away when I have a 1v1 or 2v1 or more coming my way. You stand 0 chance against anything ranged which is everything compared to the Ink Brush. I find myself swimming in ink and ambushing people to kill them and even then it's terrible damage output is still a 5 swipe kill, even if you're standing on their hand. It's an incredibly fun class. It either needs a buff or they need to release 1-2 more Ink Brush classes like the Roller.
- Put. Stat. Tracking. in. the game.
• I have no idea why this isn't in the game from the start. I wanna compare stats to my friend's. I wanna be able to see how many Splats (Kills) I have with each weapon, how many deaths I have, KDR, Favorite map, wins, loses, WLR, and so one. This is something that was highly demanded in Mario Kart 8, which was later added due to high demand. Why isn't it here in a game that should have it from the start. Oh, Nintendo...

Sorry for the long post, but I'm really enjoying this game dispite my gripes. I only have gripes because I want the game to be imroved for the better. I'll be playing this for a while, and hopefully the right steps are made to make this a better game. Any feedback, and general opinions would be nice regarding the new patch, as well as, ideas for future patches.

Take care guys!
► Jim

A few comments on your suggestions:

-As for playing all modes with friends: I personally don't play with friends (though I might in the future), but I wholeheartedly agree. At least the August update should fix this, although we'll have to wait.
-I'm pretty sure they have several gamemodes ready to go, but their design philosophy seems to be to spread out the updates over summer, so I doubt we'll get another one for a few weeks at least.
-As for not killing people when you should, I would just like to check if you're sure it's due to lag, rather than high defense boosts. I've seen several people going into battle with three or more defense boosts, which ups the shots needed to splat with several weapons.
-I think it makes sense to withhold weapon nerfs and buffs for a little longer, so we can see how stuff develops.
-As for getting killed in less shots than you should... have you checked to see if you had previous damage? Other than that, yeah, it might be some weird lag thing. I've had experience with getting splatted by people who have been dead for several seconds when there's lag up.

I believe data mining has revealed several new weapons, including three new types of brushes. So there is that.

Getting lagged when killing people is really common because of the lack of a region filter combined with client side hit detection to try and mask it (Meaning what they hit counts regardless of what you see)
I have to say I really dislike to rollers and the Kraken special is too easy to get and lasts too long so the knock back buff is a welcome one in my opinion

My 2 main gripes are Rollers (They all need balancing esp in the how far can i fling ink stakes) and the disconnecting in multiplayer which hasnt got any better since the update

Wow, thank you for that data mine info! I would love to see some more Ink Brushes! It seems that there is a variant of each weapon class beside the Ink Brush class. As for the "lag," it could very well be from defense perks, but the Roller is still a one shot regardless of 3 defense perks (unless they're three sub defense perks in practice). I don't think the attack or defense perks do much at all. Granted, I've never tested this nor have I seen proof that a certain amount of stacked perks will provide one more shots with a certain weapon to kill or one less shots with a certain weapon to others, but there's no proof. I usually don't complain about lag unless I get shot through walls / the ground and when I get at least 3-8 hit detections on a single person and they don't die, and I usually end up dying to find out it's a foreign player or Japanese player which makes sense in the end when I'm on the Kill Cam screen. It happened to me last night while playing Tower Control while recording my "Tower Control Preview" video for my channel. I hit a Japanese player 6 times with the Splattershot Jr. and he doesn't die until I literally jumped on his back shooting him 1-2 times more and we traded.

Thanks for your feedback, and I agree about the disconnects. They should fix the point reduction in Ranked to 0 when DC'ed. There is a clear distinction between turning the Wii U off (because you can't Home screen or quit mid match) and a DC. Point reduction should be a penalty for quitters and not DC's. I can say I definitely have lost over at least one rank in accumulation due to DC's.

Also, the Rollers aren't that hard to deal with. I don't know, maybe I think that way because I main the Roller and I know all the techniques and how they will react when I engage them especially with a ranged weapon like my Tentatek. When you see a Roller you have to jump in and out of ink in a pattern either forward to back or side to side to confuse them. Their slow Roller swings, especially with the Dynamo, uses a lot of ink and you will be too fast for them to hit you. At this point you should have splat them especially at distance. If you're standing still of course, you're a goner... two swings from far away will do you in. As for the Kraken, it is very powerful, but easily avoided. If you see a Roller with their head of fire, assume they always have the Kraken and keep your distance, again, so you can force them into a panicked Kraken and run away. Don't shoot them, you're going to leave yourself open for another opponent to splat you, low ink gauge / Kraken death, or you're going to be open to a OHKO follow-up swing from the expired Kraken Roller. After the Kraken is done unaware of your escaped position, splat the Roller. I hope this helps, they're really easy to counter, I'm speaking from experience as one ;3!

We get so many wishlists of random stuff that people want in the game, we could have a whole subforum for it...

I don't have much to say to anything of these suggestions, they've all been discussed before. We know some of them are being addressed in the future (Capture the Flag, playing with friends).

I'm very pleased with Splatoon currently, and this thread isn't so much of a wishlist, as I had stated above. These are more so things that need to be added into the game to make it a long last and enjoyable experience for new and old Splatoon players. To give us a reason to keep on playing, which Nintendo seems to be doing since when basically have been getting weekly content since the game released.

Hmm maybe problem is I should be able to evade to an extent from mid range and I never seem to be able to (May be an element of lag in that)
The one major issue (and it's a biggie which trumps any other problem the game may or may not have) is the roller has no proper hit box
When it's on the ground coming for me I should be able to jump over it but I cant I may as well just stand there because the hitbox is vertical from the floor up

Now look at that vs any gun in the game and you're already at an advantage when defending yourself

I didn't have experience with that on either ends, I usually jump backwards or side to side and fling ink unless I know I can run someone over off guard.
It would be nice if when a friend joins you in a game of Turf War, their name in the lobby and in-game are highlighted.
That............................ and if they were on your damn team lol. I played with my buddy two nights ago, we had to leave this one lobby because we could never be on each other's team. We were team speaking, it was funny, but we wanted to be team mates, not opponents.

Yeah you can jump backwards but if you get cornered or as say the carbon roller is they're too fast for jumping backwards the roller will just about catch you when you land, I've found the range extends slightly to the sides as well although that maybe CSHD at play because of a slight lag in the game
